They have McDonalds crab cakes in OC and Bethany Beach. I passed a banner this summer that said they had them and kept on driving. I'll pass on McDonalds seafood any day of the week. :( YUCK

More specifically, "poutine" is french fries, cheese curds and gravy. It's a French Canadian dish in origin.

Cheese CURDS??? Like cottage cheese or something? Oh well, I'll usually try most any new food :)

I have a McDonald's story about my mother-in-law. Most of the longtime GreekChatters know how I feel about that, ahem, dear woman.

Anyhow, she will not eat fast food. She likes to *pretend* she's Miss Healthy Eater, but by the looks of it she's making up the absence of fast food elsewhere. Once she and my father in law and some other relatives were over and everyone else wanted McDonalds so she was overruled. My husband offered to run out and pick up the food and when she was hemming and hawing about what she wanted, he suggested a fish sandwish. Her response?

"What kind of fish is it?"

Stupid biotch; it's the Rare Rectangular McBottomfeeder http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/splat.gif

Kind of...I guess if you strained the curds and put them on the french fries, that is essentially what it would be.

I think it's more of an "out east" thing in Canada (i.e. Quebec and Ontario) than in other parts of the country. Mind you, Winnipeg, Manitoba has a hood called St. Boniface, and they have the largest French speaking community in Canada outside of the province of Quebec. But that is another story...

And KillarneyRose, as for the Monster in Law, we used to have pizza in Canadian McDonalds a while ago (like 10 years ago) but they are no more. Also, we do have veggie burgers (the patties are from this place and you know what, they are not half bad...). There is also the "Lighter Choices" menu that has salads that are really quite tasty, light wraps, that kind of thing.

Those links oughta keep you busy for a while?? ;)

Really? I could have sworn I saw it on the menu at the McDonalds in Eaton Centre in Toronto. Of course there were tons of fast food restaurants there and I know some of them had poutine on the menu so I may just be confusing it with another place.

...but I DID see it in Montreal. :D

Isn't Toronto IN Quebec?

Toronto is in Ontario. Montreal is in Quebec.

You can get poutine at A & W (that other fine fast food dining establishment) out West, but not at McD's.

Oh and the Cheese Curds is Curds of Cheddar Cheese, without the orange dye (i.e. they are white). You can buy bags of cheddar cheese at the grocey store.
