I think if he goes out of state he may be able to get away from the stigma (unless the media follows him as he applies to school etc or if he has to register as a sex offender). I hope he learned his lesson about dealing with the others...otherwise he'll end up right back in this with Kobe and won't be given the benefit of the doubt since they'll claim he has a "pattern" of this behavior.

I don't think there are that many people who feel he is guilty of anything except having sex with the PWT. Really. I am sad because Vanderbilt took his scholarship and perhaps he won't be able to use it for college/football but is the stigma going to follow him because he did what every other man with any privilege is guilty of? I don't think so. He can come to LA. I am sure no one here gives a darn.

I heard it this morning on the radio, I hear it was a close vote 4-3 to over turn, but regardless it has been done. It was reported on the TJMS that he is already out of jail.

He's on Oprah today.

A new one or a repeat?

AKA2D '91 05-11-2004 01:40 PM

New One. On the promo Oprah mentioned that he was incarerated, but he is free. Then she says he's doing his first interview. You know it's May Sweeps...RATINGS! LOL

This story saddens me so much. To see, who seems to be a good, black, young man go down in such turmoil, is so frustrating. Especially when it's in the south--where EVERYTHING started. I believe that had this case been brought to the north somewhere, Marcus would have had the chance of being found not guilty. Who knows, though?

Phasad1913 05-12-2004 01:25 AM

OK, so I just finished watching Oprah. I'm glad Marcus is heading to school somewhere soon.

Now, about Soror Lena Horne's granddaughter: when they were showing her apartment I saw a few elephants and a little figurine in a red dress...does anyone know if she's a soror???

Yeah I saw it and it hurt my heart that he had 2 spend 18 months in jail for nothing. I think that the girl lied, she couldn't even work up some real tears. And just like Oprah said, he wouldn't have been in jail if he would have been white.

AKA2D '91 05-12-2004 08:16 AM

I agree, but...

Oprah ACTUALLY said that? :o

I'm surprised SHE would go there (on air).

She actually asked the girl if the guy was white, if he would have been arrested. The girl, of course, said yes. Oprah didn't make a statement because you know if she had...DRAMA. :o

This story is indeed a sad one. But I am quite impressed by the strength that Marcus Dixon has. I would be mad at the world if that happened to me or my child. They are truly inspirational in their faith and peace at this situation.

Please, child!! Oprah says whatever she wants to say on her own show and in her own interviews! She holds her tongue for NOTHING!! Just like last night, when she was talking to Marcus and his family, she said "now I know some of you are wondering why this black boy is sittin up here with this white family. I know you're probably thinking--what's goin on--cuz he sure is a black, black boy!!" Yeah--she said that. So, I'm not surprised at all.

It was funny to see her try so hard to squeeze some water from those eye ducts. She tried her darndest, I know. Ha! Too bad, so sad.
