Let's see...

During the Fall of 2002, I took over the Student Federation Representative office a few weeks into the semester. (The girl who'd been doing it for the past year could no longer attend meetings due to time constraints).

From January 2003 until present, I have served as our chapter Recording Secretary, and in January 2004 I will begin a year as Social Chairman. :) I am very excited about my new office!

I have also been chairman of the philanthropy interest group for the past year, which isn't really an office, per se. :)

Let's see if I can remember all the offices I held.......

Panhellenic Rep: Loved it because I got to meet and work with lots of great women from other sororities. Having to attend rush infraction hearings was kind of annoying though.

Ritualist: Loved it. I've loved our ritual ever since I went through it myself. I was the ritualist who didn't know the ritual for a while... we were a colony of new members, and we were recruiting additional members, so we needed a ritualist to oversee their new member ceremonies.

Fundraising Co-chair: Hated it because my co-chair took all the credit :mad:

Alumnae Chair: Not too bad. We had very few alums, and I knew them all, so instead of sending a newsletter I just kept in touch via email and snail mail and let them know what was going on with the chapter... read: low time commitment and something I'd have done anyway ;)

House Chair: This is a real easy job when you're in an unhoused sorority. :D Panhel had a room in the student center, where the unhoused sororities could keep things (rush decorations etc.), so once a semester we had a "room clean-up day" and it was my job to make sure AEPhi sent a couple of people (read: I went) - but that was pretty much it.

I also appointed myself webmaster. I just sat down one summer and wrote a website. Now website maintenance is part of the PR chair's job.

In terms of rush, I was the bid day chair one year, and a rho chi another year... so I was never quite a "rush ass" but I came close :p

In Panhellenic:

Secretary for the year of 2004.

In Phi Sig:

I started off as Philanthropy Chair and Public Relations Chair for the 2003-2004 school year.

One month into the school year our bursar (treasurer) dropped the position and I was elected.

So I had to drop one Chair position, I dropped Public Relations.

Next school year 2004-2005, I want to be Membership Recruitment :) and Historian.

My first year as a sister, I was elected to being both Corresponding AND Recording Secretary! :eek: It was overkill. Both jobs are pretty intensive and having to do both my first year as a sister was nuts!

Vice President, Membership: my current position. This is my second year with this office, and I LOVE IT. I am in charge of rush and I lead the MIT(pledge) meetings. I love being in charge of the new girlies and teaching them about our sisterhood.

As far as chairs, I've been:

--Fundraising chair: I didn't like that chair very much, because I suck at coming up with good fundraisers. :p

--Social chair: this one was pretty fun!

I will be running for Prez for next year. I'm crossing my fingers. :D

(oversaw pr, homecoming, spirit, panhel rep, & formal recruiment chair, but ended up BEING the recruitment chair since she dropped the position a WEEK before!)

Senior Year (currently):
Assistant New Member Educator
(CAN'T wait for the girls to come in this FALL!)
Homecoming Chair

By far my favorite position has been Alumni & Senior Coordinator(absolutely REWARDING experience)... but i can't say for certain JUST yet ;)

* Spirit Chair (I absolutely loved this position, because it was great teaching the chapter new cheers and helping to keep the spirits up when all we wanted to do was go to bed during long recruitment workshops! :D)

* Music Chair (I shared this position with another new member, and we never really *left* the position until our graduation...I enjoyed the position, but in a chapter where not very many of us were musically inclined ;), it was difficult to get anyone excited about singing :( )

* Membership Education Vice President, or MEVP (I wish I never had had to give this position up! I enjoyed working with the NMC, the Pride leaders - which we reinstituted for the semester that I turned over the reins, the Guard, and my entire Exec Committee. TMEs weren't the best things to organize and get going, but I didn't have much say in any of the TMEs that were planned for my term ~ I split the position with another sister while I was studying overseas)

*Recording Secretary (I enjoyed giving back to the chapter in my last semester as a sister - I actually thought I was going to be there another semester, but I graduated earlier than I expected - and I was proud that I set up a chapter e-mail address which made it easier to email chapter minutes out to ALL the sisters and our Province Director, District Director and all our advisors, which was a goal of mine)

* Historian (I held this position at the same time as Recording Secretary, and I didn't really get a chance to do much with it - the previous historian was finishing up her work on the scrapbook and wanted to finish it before she turned it over to me, and then I graduated, so I didn't really get to complete too much with this position, but I had ideas, I tell you! :D)

I'm still planning to remain involved as an alumna, and am currently working on holding offices in other capacities (with my alumnae association here and helping out a local collegiate chapter). I couldn't be happier! :)

*Panhellenic Delegate-This was a fun position....not a lot of work though. All I had to do is attend Panhellenic meetings and report back to the chapter, but it was a good way to get my foot in the door on Exec.
*Treasurer-Only the strong can be treasurer!! Not a fun job, but someone had to do it and I was willing to step up. Monthly reports were a pain and having to financially expell some of my sisters broke my heart.
*President-Currently, I am holding this position. I am almost through my first semester. It is really hard sometimes....but extremely rewarding at others. I will let ya'll know my final verdict on this one in 9 months!
*Next year----I haven't decided yet! I mulling Panhellenic President since it will be our turn, or either 2nd VP.

Last semester I was:

- Academic Chair - I was nominated again for this semester, but there's a reason why I declined. It's hard trying to think of fun things to do that sisters want to go to/ have time to go to.

- Co-Rush Chair - This was a lot of fun. I got to help plan the rush events, but I wasn't the one specifically in charge, so I did get to relax somewhat. And it's always fun cooking pledge dinner! I would do it again.

This semester I am/ was:
- Morale Chair - LOVE planning events. We're going to have a kindergarten night soon with finger paints. Best position EVER.

- Co-Pledge Chair for the winter pledge class - There were only two things that went badly:
1. The other co-pledge didn't do anything and then deactivated the day after I-night.
2. I forgot to bring something. I bought it, but forgot it! So then we had to do a bit of improvisation, but it was okay.
Other than that, I loved every bit of it.

Next semester, I reeeeeeeally reeeeally want to be Secretary or Pledge Chair. Or both.

Collegiate Positions:
I was Marshall, served two years as our Greek Columns delegate (the Greek Community newsletter that I'm not even sure is still put together).
Then I was Purchase Fund Chair, which basically meant that I was in charge of making sure everyone paid for different things that were being order like T-shirts, Bid Day pics, party favors, somehow when I started this my two best friends were also Greek Week Co-chairs and so they also had me in charge of the penny drive that goes on for the chapter.
I was Homecoming Chair twice and I loved it both times, I love Homecoming so much. It was cool because there are two different ways that pairings can do Homecoming - either doing community service only or by doing a lawn display. The first year we only did the community service and the second year we did a lawn display. There's still lots of other projects to do and by learning so much the first year about what needed to be done, I was referred to as the Homecoming Nazi (jokingly) my second tme around, but we won so that was cool.
Vice President Adminstration - basically involves lots of paperwork, making sure everyone is meeting deadlines, was cool b/c I got to fill in for the President when she couldn't go to our Grand Convention, and I got to organize our slating process and Chapter Leadership Workshop.
Facility Manager - pretty self explanatory
Awards Chair which meant I had to assemble our binder for the Vespers ceremony, I helped with it one year and was in charge of it the next

Committees:
Finance Committee twice, Corp Board (when I was Facility mgr). I was also a Party Day Chair (2nd round and pref) during Formal Recruitment, served on a Spirit Committee, as well as our Member Development Committee and served as the PR Chair for our Philanthropy project my last semester

Adviser positions:
Currently I advise four different positions: Vice-President Development, Social, Ritualist and Service chair.

Let's see:

In Panhel I was a Rho Chi. I LOVED that. It made me feel so
good to be able to help my group find their home away from home


In Zeta, I was:

-Music Chair: This was a really fun position. Before I took the position, all music did was write the songs for serenading and teach the songs for recruitment. When I took it over, though, I started the "song of the month" program where every month I would teach a new song.....with fun prizes involved.

-Ritual Chair: Now this I held for 2 terms-by the time I graduated,
I had seen half the chapter through initiation. I LOVED this job. I
always loved our ritual, and I think that I was really able to instill in the chapter the same respect and love for our ritual as I had. It got stressful at times, especially around initiation time, but SO worth it

I thought I'd update now...

My main two offices I've held (exec offices, that is) are Membership Chair and President.

Membership Chair: I enjoyed it a lot. I liked that it was kind of a behind-the scenes job, and I really like establishing alumnae contacts all over the country. The Membership Chair in Pi Phi has a weird amalgamation of duties, and it's a lot of fun. It was VERY stressful during recruitment week--I didn't like that aspect so much.

President: I'm about 2.5 months into my Presidency now. I love it. It's a lot of work, but I'd really rather be managing people than doing the dirty work myself. Plus I get to do a lot of random fun things--like putting together the composite and filling out forms (strange, I know, but I enjoy it). Also I really enjoyed the national leadership conference I went to in February. I think that being Pi Phi President will probably be the central experience of my college career--I love it.

As an undergrad:

* Miss Manners -- met with our House Mom once a month on things we needed to brush up on etiquette-wise
* Philanthropy chair -- fun but hectic during our annual philanthropy. I was proud to say we raised more money under me than the previous 3 years--AND the money actually GOT to the beneficiary which it didn't the year before (but that's a whole 'nother story)
* Reference chair -- handled all references for recruitment
* Nomination chair -- headed the slating committee for elections
* Webmaster
* Co-song chair
* various committees including Standards, scholarship, education, philanthropy and organization.

I desperately wanted to be Marshal (ritual) my Junior/Senior year but the Nominating chair that year had a personal vendetta against me. Elections that year were not pretty--about 1/4 of the chapter stood up and walked out after it was made apparant what was happening. So instead, I threw myself into my Panhellenic office and other campus activities.

As an alumnae:

* Advisory Board Chair
* Education and Marshal Adviser
* Secretary/Fraternity Education of our Alumnae Association
* President of our Alumnae Association
