Maybe she's still in high school and she thinks those are the things that would be best in greek life?

I think she is in HS & her 3 favorite things about being greek that she listed are the ideas that she has of sororities from movies, television (especially sorority life), friends, GC., etc. |
Leave the girl alone, she's just a teenybopper.
I think those three things she listed was hypothetical...and not far from the truth. Typical sorority life IS a lot about boys and parties. |

1. I knew no one at my school and wanted a quick way to make friends. 2. I wanted to meet guys. 3. I wanted to have a social life and not just drive back and forth to school since I was at a commuter school. Somehow I doubt that we all joined originally because of the fabulous networking possibilities or the leadership positions or the alum groups. Give the girl a break, if she's a troll, IGNORE it. |

My favorite thing about being in a sorority is the support I have from my sisters, which has been amazing and awesome for me! And trust me, I definitely didn't rush for the boys. :p |

I think your caps lock might be broken, you should check that out. If she is indeed a troll (I don't know but I think an IP check is being call for) she should be taken care of and not "ignored." Of course a lof of us joined for the booze and to meet people but that doesn't mean that those things continued to be our favorite things. In fact I think a lot of us realized the other advantages of being greek when we got a little older. I did join for the parties and the girls but those aren't my favorite things now. I hate going to the parties because they get too crowded now and the grils are all youngin, immature fake drunks ;) |
Sweetie, I'm going to assume you're really in high school and that the other post is hypethetical. (sp? If it's wrong, will my authenticity be called into question?)
1. Try and obtain recommendations for the sororities on the campus you choose. There are a bunch of threads on GC about this, just do a quick search. 2. Keep your GPA up! Whether or not you go Greek, your GPA is very important. You go to college for an education, not just to be Greek. 3. Be involved in activities. Find things you enjoy and take part. Stay busy now - experience high school, don't just use it as a stepping stone to join a sorority. 4. Be classy. Respect yourself, be confident, take care of yourself, be well groomed, and all that. There's a bunch of advice threads in the rush forum. Look those up and I guarantee they'll be a big help. Did I miss anything? |
Different people join for different reasons, what may seem right for one person may seem wrong for another. Matthew Mc. said being greek was all about who throws the best parties and has the hottest people in their GLO. Some people agree with him and some don't. Kevin Costner (sp?) felt the same as Matthew, as did Garth Brooks ( who was a pike). Are all of them in the wrong? It depends on your beliefs, some of think so and some of us don't. Why bash someone for their reasons? If everyone believed being greek was not about the parties and hot chicks/boys and joined solely for the "good" reasons....being greek would be very boring and there wouldn't be very many greeks on college campuses.
