but, at least it'll make this thread interesting.

Yeah umm I don't know how it's done in Texas, but yeah no rape involved in bathroom sex.

women who dress slutty invite people to rape them.

its true.

I believe it's all about finding a style that flatters your figure, and if low-waisted jeans look nicer on you (as they do on me), nmore power to you - go for it!

I try to steer clear of ones that are TOO, TOO low, but I like designer denim, and sometimes I may flash a little too much if I lean forward on my bar stool. I just think it's about using your best judgement - there is a time and place for everything. I mean, sure, my lowest jeans may be a little skanky, but if I wear them out to the clubs or bars, that's alright... wearing them to church would not be. My jeans may be trashy, but I'm not.

And not to be a brat, but a lot of times the people who judge are just jealous because their boyfriend is staring...

Sidenote: For anyone who has ever taken any fashion classes, it's really all just about shifting erogenous zones... I mean, in the Victorian era, showing your ankles was "skanky" too! Anyway, that was just a freshman-year-of-college class flashback for me!

sorry, bud.

this is the part that i was referring to. I guess the Red thing could be construed that way too. I dont' know though, you know how certain GCers like to take posts out of context and infer flammatory meanings.

Not jealous. I just don't like when people leave skidmarks on the barstools. :p

Okay I have to be a brat for a second... I'm sure you're just kidding but people can say low-waisted jeans are tacky and then make comments like that, and act like that's not? Sorry, I'd take grace, composure and clean mouth in a pair of low-rise jeans over someone who speaks crassly any day, no matter what they wear. Not picking a fight, but GROSS!!!

This is not always true...women who dress with confidence are less likely to be raped. Rapist look for someone who will make a good victim, low self estem, etc. I am sure it depends on the situation too. But if I am wrong someone please tell me. I took a class and this is what they told me.

sororitygirl2 10-26-2003 11:30 PM

No it's true... attackers often go after girls who are unaware of their surroundings, slumping and staring at the ground. If you are sure of yourself and strutting it, they may be intimidated to approach you.

Oh, and Rudey... actually it's red today, thank you very much.

What's up with the ones that have like 3 inches between the crotch and the button? At work we call those the "Show My Cooch Low Rise"

breathesgelatin 10-26-2003 11:33 PM

Let me just point out that there are many kinds of rape. The things y'all are saying are more like the kind of rape people think of--like a scary guy jumping out of the bushes. What you are saying about confidence, self-esteem, dress, etc, does NOT apply to date rape or acquaintance rape. Just FYI for safety.

sororitygirl2 10-26-2003 11:36 PM

Thanks, breathesgelatin, you are right... we are talking about stranger rape. Date rape or acquaintance rape is actually much more common, and much harder to guard against, besides really knowing and trusting men that you spend time with - and even that isn't always enough.

Rudey 10-26-2003 11:38 PM

how the hell did we get on rape? I say something about bathroom sex :(

Like I said earlier is depends on the situation. Sorry Rudey back to bathroom sex.

Someone, I think it was Sororitygirl2, made a good point when she mentioned that in different eras, people had different ways of dressing provocatively. When I was the age most of you are now, no one would have dreamed of wearing hip hugger jeans especially with a cropped top. Believe it or not, Madonna got A LOT of press for showing her bellybutton!!!

But we did wear teeny, tiny little dresses and shirts that there was no way you could bend over in. I remember one of my friends in another sorority had an article of clothing we fondly referred to as her "Oops, is that my vagina?" skirt.

A couple of years ago, teenage girls were all wearing spaghetti strap t's with their bra straps sticking out, but thankfully that seems to have passed.

Who knows what the big fad will be next year, right?
