I hear you jess. But...
Some of these things (okay, maybe one or two) can be fun for kids, if planned properly. We had about 60 people (about 10% of the membership) from our church (also Presbyterian) doing the CROP walk -- some rather old, some reasonably young middle age (I'm trying to make myself feel better), lots of youth, and quite a few kids, including some in strollers. The CROP walk is how my son chose to spend the afternoon of his 6th birthday. Kids got to have fun with each other and with "older" folks. To top it off, a local children's museum gave free passes to anyone participating in the walk. We made it a not-to-be-missed party.
But yeah, churches ignore their kids at their peril.
