So do you think you are above animals? Do you think you are #1 and deserve better treatment? Do you think that animals were put on this earth for your personal use? Disgusting AND ignorant to boot. |
This is the whole problem with PETA. They go overboard in their tactics and people get so annoyed with them, that they do something they probably wouldn't (like buying fur) just to say "fark you PETA, you're not the boss of me."
And their use of the Holocaust in this sort of promotion is sickening. |
I don't agree with PETA's tactics and their use of the Holocaust either.
However, I think it's disgusting when people feel that animals don't deserve to have as good of treatment as people. |
/(sort of) hijack
Where does the level of concern stop with animals? I HATE bugs and kill 'em as fast as I see 'em in my house...But I sure wouldn't kill a cute golden retriever puppy if that got in my house! Why do we assign levels of tolerance to animals? THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED TO ANYONE...It's a general "throwing it out there" question... ETA: Also, I know that I personally couldn't slaughter a cow/chicken/turkey, yet I'll eat it...Why do people have an "It's ok because I didn't see it happen/kill the animal myself" sort of view?? |
i eat meat, chicken and all- slaughterhouses are designed to kill animals, not breed pets. Do I think that they should have great living conditions though? I mean sorry, I am not willing to pay $2.00 a pound more for meat because Mr. Cock a Doodle doo needs a penthouse with a jacuzzi and plenty of feed.
Give him his feed, chop his head off and defeather him. I have been to a slaughterhouse and seen how they kill animals. For cows it is realy strange because they are just standing there and then they put these things next to its head and send a huge electrical current through, basically frying their brains. I guess that is humane? I don't know. But bessie tastes good. As for fur, not a fan, I have never seena fur that I thought looked nice. As for leather- very good for keeping the chills gone.. I like leather shoes too. Do I think I am better than animals? No, just higher on the food chain. I seriously dout lions sit around pondering this $hit. Can you hear them? Lioness #1 "Those poor antelope, they are having such a hard time finding good land to graze on and since the water buffalo took over their old lands they are so overcrowded- how can we make thier living conditions better so that we can rip them to shreds and eat them later?" Lioness #2- "Who gives a flying - - - -? Just kill and eat!" |

I have a problem with PETA equating animal suffering with that of the holocaust. That is pretty disgusting and ignorant. This type of tactic is why PETA alienates so many people. |
I'm above animals. In fact, I'm above most other humans.
|
You can't even for a second compare the way lions and humans have to eat and obtain their food.
Keep trying though. People eat meat because they like it and don't want to change deep seeded habits. If people had to kill their own cows, pigs and chickens, I'm sure most of the world would become vegetarian relatively quickly. |

I mean seriously if you choose not to eat meat that is cool- but I doubt you could make it in the world without animal products. I mean they are everywhere... and what are the lines on this? Don't eat cow but suck the milk from its body? |
My personal line:
Don't kill a living thing just so I can eat it and poop it out later. I do drink milk and eat cheese or eggs, but they all come from a locally farmed cruelty free dairy. The products I use on my body are almost all organic and natural. There are people that take it even farther than I do. Vegans. They don't use anything with animal products, and they survive just fine. |

And anyway....you've never grown up on a farm have you? Well, now I'm going to go be inhumane now and kick my dog a few times and maybe starve him for a week or two. |

Of course. People always fall back to "g_d" as justifications for how they act. That's the best.
And actually, I did spend my summers on a farm in central Illinois for 13 years. I didn't like it then, I don't like it now. |

I'm not about to quit eating meat, and I'm not for ending animal testing, but I think that if we can find economical ways to make such processes less cruel, that we should use them. For example the current way pigs and cows are slaughtered is not only cruel but creates major sanitation issues for humans! Also I don't support the testing of makeup and other frou-frou stuff on animals. Legitimate scientific research for health reasons is fine... but smearing lipstick in animal's eyes or scraping eyes with mascara to see what will happen if some fool does that to themselves? Unneccesary. |
