I very rarely wear white, outside of t-shirts. I don't like white shoes--before, during or after Labor Day. Some of us need to stop being so judgemental and realize that the REST of the world might not do things the same way as you do. Bah. NYC w/o AC=linen. It might be black linen, but no one's going to stop me from wearing my linen pants. It's hot up in hurrrr....:p |

Come to think of it....I don't even own anything white except my whites for initiation. That isn't until November, but darnit I guess I better inform the Phi Mu national office that we can't wear whites for initiation anymore since it's after Labor Day. They're all properly raised ladies so they should have no problem with this. :D
Ok, I am just being sarcastic, sorry. I guess up here in Missouri and Nebraska no one really cares if you wear white after Labor day. I think if I wore white shoes during the middle of summer even I'd get some weird looks, Missouri is pretty casual and laid back. Oh well. :) But I think my mommy raised me just fine! |
Why do people brag about being Southern?
-Rudey --It's like me bragging about getting crabs. |

I know it is such a trivial thing to worry about but I am going to New Orleans in 1 week and I have this white linen outfit that I want to wear (it is soooooo pretty). I can hear my mother's voice saying-"but dear it is after labor day you cannot wear white or linen", but I have decided to just wear the outfit and I guess if people in N.O. stare at me then so be it! For the record I will not be wearing any white shoes. I can't help but to think about it as it was drilled into my head that white after labor day is a huge no no.

LOL! You hit that nail on the head! :p |
Ok I'm confused. Is it just white shoes that's a faux pas, or can you not wear white at all?
I mean in reality, I don't really care, but I'm just confused about what the "rule" actually is. |
You know what, if you are traveling and you want to enjoy your trip, be comfortable and wear whatever you want.
You will NEVER see those people again! :D If you're visiting relatives and THEIR friends...well that's a different story. White shoes??? My Grandma always told me people in Arkansas went barefoot! :p SHE REALLY DID! |
Why does this really matter? Regardless if you chicks wear white before or after Labor Day, you all are still below us men. ^_^
