I am noticing a similar method of dying for the ghosts told in these stories. Its seems they either hung themselves or died in a car wreck. I'm not saying anyone is making these stories up of course! I believe all of you! :D Just was wondering about it...

the guy who haunts the LXA house (boyfriend's chapter) was stabbed in a fight that broke out one night. He was trying to break up a fight between two other guys, and one of them stabbed him to death :( (at least that's what their older alums told me :p ) All the guys there believe the house & lodge are haunted.. I've witnesses a few weird things, and I would *never* go into the house at night if it was all dark. (small house) it's just creepy ! |
actually looking back into Marylands history a girl did commit suicide in her room @ the Kappa Delta House in 82'. So there is history behind that....if she hung herself "we will never know"

I think that story might be used to explain why our attic is cemented up and we can't get in there. |
i dont get it...so she locked herself up in your attic killed herself....and now thats why you have your attic sealed. If thats true all I can say is woah.

The locked attic story is interesting. At Ball State, the senior dorm was the original men's dormitory. The fourth floor has been kept sealed off for years. The story always was because it was haunted by the ghost of a post-WWII disabled veteran who hung himself on that floor! I always thought it was curious that they kept it sealed because (at least when I attended) they always had a shortage of housing.

other hauntings
Was just thinking about this thread a few days ago and remembered something else I had heard from around here.
Another one of the sororities at my college is also supposedly haunted. The story is that the house caught fire a long time ago killing just about everyone in the family that lived there. The story says that a young boy was somehow the only one who survived the fire. He went on to live a relatively normal life (as normal as you can after surviving such a tradgedy I suppose) and later died. Supposedly now the house is haunted by what they think is his ghost. The sisters that live there all call him "Gus" and don't really mind the things that go on. The odd thing is, it's sort of like a helpful ghost, and it's really paranoid about fire. Example: a friend of mine was cooking dinner one day and left the wooden spoon on the burner on the stove. After a minute or two, the thing went flying across the kitchen. General things like that happen, always stemming from some sort of fire hazard. So it's like they have their own personal fire chief all the time looking out for anything else that might set the house ablaze again. |

I really don't buy it so it's not very exciting. I always joke that the girls from our local hid all their ritual stuff up in the attic and then sealed it off so we'd never know. We usually try and break in during Inspiration Week, so I'm sure eventually we'll get up there! |
SAE
SAE at the University of Missouri use to be a civil war hospital. It is an amazingly beautiful house but is supposedly really haunted. The basement use to be a crematorium. Legend has it a man named Bill was burned alive, they now call him Bloody Bill and he haunts the house as well as other countless civil war soldier ghosts. There are countless crazy stories from this house; lets just say few people want to enter the room that was formerly the crematorium. I don’t know if I believe it but their philanthropy is a haunted house in their house and backyard and it definitely adds to the fun!

Older sisters claimed to have seen a ghost... a girl... she showed up in 2 of the bedrooms and in the snack room in the basement. I don't think there's a story behind her... but I avoided living in those 2 rooms when I lived in the house and late at night when I was in the basement by myself, I'd get freaked out by my own imagination of what *could* happen.

I am kinda interested in ghosts and I have heard a lot of really useful tips about ghosts that may help some of you or at least be useful bits of knowledge.
1. Ghosts can't really hurt you. They can mess with a lot of your stuff, do some pretty freaky stuff, but when it comes to actually causing harm, they can't really do it. And even the stories you hear about them hitting people etc.... it takes A LOT of energy for them to do that and is very very rare and it's usually something that isn't a "ghost". Don't worry, more than likely they are just letting you know they are there. If you don't mind that they are there, just do like some other ppl on here have said and say "hi" or whatever to let them know you know they're around. Usually they are pretty lonely (you think about living eternity alone in one place; you'd wanna make a racket too!) or are looking to send a msg of some kind, sometimes that they need to send to"cross over". If they aren't so nice, you can be firm with them and it usually works to make them stop pestering you. You can be like "Look, my sisters/brothers and I live here now and we are ok with you being here, but you have to stop busting open our doors at night/banging things/moving stuff etc... and we'd like you to stop" or if you want them to go, you can ask them to leave. This is much harder to do, but just keep telling them that this is your house now and they need to move on and "go to the light"(sound familiar, Carol-Anne???). They'll usually eventually listen, but things might happen right after b/c they are kinda annoyed that you are telling them to go. Ghosts like to play tricks a lot and move things, thats why the ring got misplaced for 3 weeks. If that happens and you suspect its a ghost just ask for it back, it'll usually come back within a day; sometimes within minutes. Ghosts are usually pretty easy to live with once you kinda understand that they are part of the house and might not be able to leave and you are gonna be stuck with them for a while and that it's your house and sometimes you have to be firm with them. A good way to get a pic of them btw. TV's frequently capture pics of ghosts. With the TV turned off, take a pic of it. You can ask the ghost to show itself in the TV too, sometimes they will do that but sometimes they are shy too so you may get good footage by going quickly. Also, if you have a "hot spot" for activity, put up a video camera for a few days, you might see them on there too. A really good website to check out ghost pics is ghoststudy.com There are some seriously freaky pics and stories on there. Oh and for those of you that are using Ouija boards to contact your spirits, BURN THEM!!! They are bad bad bad bad stuff. Black magic AND remember that when you open a door like that, you don't know who is coming in or out. Be careful everyone and I hope this helps ya get along with the spooks of your house! Oh and for the ASA girl, you guys should do an initiation just for her; it may put her soul to rest, or at least she'll be a much happier ghost-pledge :D |
