I agree with damasa. OMG did I just say that?
Judging from some of the isht in Chit Chat, I think it's safe to say that some people need to get a friggin' life. |
I just wanted to say I like reality TV. I don't care if others don't because, mainly, I know they never really gave it a chance to start. I also like topics which others might not consider flippant.
-Rudey --At the end of the day I'm confident enough to say I'm smarter than 99.9% of the people here so I'm doing you all a favor by posting. |

I don't mean to sound bitter...there are still some decent threads (usually the ones that entertain the most debate), but overall I'd like to see more of those. Collin |

I am all for the debate threads. I think GC is the most exciting when we have race/politics/religion, whatever debates. I think Chit Chat was the most exciting when I signed on and found the off color/easily offended don't click here/etc AND prejudism threads right up at the top everyday. I could get into a serious debate then turn right around and lmao at what people said in the next thread.
I think the problem is there are only so many ways you can say one thing. Like for people that have been here for a while, we pretty much know how each other feels about race and stuff. Like I am sure if you see my name in such a thread you can probably recite exactly what I am posting without even reading it. I don't know what a solution would be. We need a new resident psycho I think, lol. That always makes things more fun. Also I don't see much of a problem with the TV threads. If you don't watch the show or don't care, don't click on the thread. I don't really watch many of the shows that people post threads about, but if enough people wanna discuss them then who is anyone to tell them not to? |
The difference to me is people don't "play fair" anymore. I have disagreed with the best of y'all and have given AND received points in a debate. We turn to another thread and it's over and done...new subject. I see more grudge matches and less tolerance for a differing point of view. It was fun when you could take a topic, debate the hell out of it and STILL have an understanding of the other person's point of view. I do like a heated topic, but I'm thinking the readership is getting so young that their frame of reference and their intellectual base has not fully been developed or explored. Now, I think that was the epitome of the velvet glove! I guess I AM getting too old for this.

Does it bother you that I like you soooo much!:D I have been thinking OH GEE, all we need is for "Fred" to see the thread on Paganism and witches and how people are concerned about bible reading sorority girls! LOL! |

if y'all really want, I can probably come up with enough alternate personalities to put Dionysus to shame. :p |
My Solution
SM04's plan for spicing up GC
1. Invite Fred and "the V's" 2. Ask UFPike to come back 3. Start a thread why Strom Thurmond/Jesse Jackson sucks 4. Encourage racist and sexist comments, especially if they're stupid and irrelevant 5. Rabid hijacking Then, once we hate each other then maybe this rut we're in won't seem so bad. There are a few people I remember that I do miss hearing from. I think that people have the right to post what and where they want. I personally stick to chit chat because if I went to all of the forums I'd never do anything productive again. Sure the TV threads get a little monotonous, especially for people like me who don't really watch a lot. But some people like that. Different strokes for different folks. |

On Texags.com, the A&M site i frequent, the General Board is very tough on newbies, lots of inside jokes, multiple personalities and people who talk big behind a computer. I'd rather GC stay a little tame, with a good religion, race, politics, your-state-sucks thread thrown in for good measure. Kitso KS 361 points i award OTW |
