C-SPAN and CNN will be off the hook. The Chit Chat thread is just a prequel of what the callers will say...! I don't know why Al, Jesse, or Tavis won't be invited, being that Thurmond was all progressive and all (or at least that's what the say in Chit Chat). He hired a Black person! Why are we mad? They need to check themselves over there. |

The most disturbing part of the whole Strom discussion (among others) in chit chat is that the ideas in the forum represent a microcosm of our society at large. It's spelled out, with no room for misunderstanding, how our "peers" really feel about race relations in this country. While some are educated, open minded, enlightened people (i.e., sugar and spice and Cloud9) others are still racist, hateful, and hold onto archaic beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation (i.e., LOL, I won't call them out on here, but you know who they are;)). So, whenever I start getting complacent, believing that things have really changed in this country, I march directly over to chit chat/greek life and I'm knocked right back into the reality of the race issues that are stil festering. But like my daddy always tells me, "Keep your enemies where you can see them." I'm glad they put it out there for the world to see.

Well I decided to post anyway...couldn't hold it in :p
Bamboozled I completely agree. Reminds you of the bigger AmeriKKKa, doesn't it. |
What makes me mad is that when I turned on the news this morning and heard the news, they were making him out to be this Real American Hero. Hubby was like, "I thought his name was Strom Thurmond, I guess it was really G.I. Joe." He's no hero to me and IMHO, I'm kinda glad he bought the farm.

Sure my thoughts are with his family...I wouldn't wish that on anyone...but I ain't gonna be weeping at the man's grave! http://www.spacespider.net/emo/nono.gif

Well if i came in here and started saying things bad about your dead grandfather would you all be mad. Thats how i feel about you all saying things about Brother Thurmond. He was a pillar of America and showed change from his days as a segregationist. Please let me know when some one you like dies so i can come and say bad things about him.
