Ummm... The good economy that clinton had was from the effects of what G.H.W. Bush did as President. What happens to the economy during the first about half year to year can't be controlled by the president in power. It is set up by the previous president. Thus the recession we went into at the beginning of G.W's term was set up by Clinton. Think about it for a minute. You can ask almost any economist and they will agree that Hoover wasn't at fault for the depression, he was just in office. It was too soon into his presidency for him to really effect the economy. So Clinton was given a good economy, squandered it and handed off a bad economy. Simple logic here folks.

oh yeah and also who's party name is relevent in our nation. Republican is not Democratic. We do NOT live in a democrocy people, we live in a Republic. We do not vote on every single thing that needs to be decided we elect representatives of the people to vote for us. Thus making the U.S.ofA. a Republic.

Party name relevent? Boy are you are just tring to dig for something to argue about. lol

Oh yah the nearly 8 years of good economy was because of the elder Bush even though he was only in office for 4 years. And who's fault was it the economy got bad during Bush? Can't blame Carter thats to far back beside the economy was pretty good during Regan's reign. And even if Clinton was the reason the economy went bad(which I will never believe) W has done nothing to improve it. Oh he was so convinced his tax cuts would help, but the economy just got worse. Maybe the newest tax cuts will make it even worse. But hey he can start another war to make him popular.;)

You can blame this war on W if you want, but, this war was been brewing since the end of the first Gulf War. We have been in a state of continued military action with Iraq since they invaded Kuwait and we liberated them. What about Kosovo? Or maybe the former Yugoslavia when we went in there and took out leaders and played peacekeepers? But, that of course was a Democrat so it was alright. I'm not saying Reaganomics worked. For the most part they didn't except in helping us win the cold war. The tax cut will work if people spend it like the president suggested. Put it back into the economy, don't just toss it in the bank and let it sit there forever. Buy stuff support American goods.

xo_kathy 06-25-2003 12:10 PM

How can we not put it in the bank and try to save it?!? Tell that to my boyfriend who has 20 years experience in his field and an Ivy League degree but who has been laid off since LAST July because there are NO JOBS!!!!!

The1calledTKE 06-25-2003 12:11 PM

Acutally I thought we should have stayed out of Yugoslavia and Somilia. The US gets to entangled in others affairs. If the UN ok's it send some troups but not a ton just because we are a super power. The only action as of late I have supported was Afganistan. We had justifaction on that one because we were attacked.

If you haven't seen it before go to this site..

So you mean to tell me that Bush Sr. left office with the U.S. having a great economy? That he left Clinton in such a position?

That's funny considering many political analysts consider the biggest downfall to running for his second term was how the economy was damaged during his term.

Actually, when Clinton left office, the economy was still in pretty good shape.

Simple logic is the events surrounding 9/11 - that was damaging to our economy as we still see those effects today. True, Bush couldn't control that, then again going to war (which hasn't boosted our economy much) while cutting taxes might not have been the best move.

As national debt rises.......

I'll concede that neither side will win the arguement and we'll just have to agree to disagree. Although sometime we should set up a thread that is debate style, you get so many lines or words or something. Set up some other rules, like personal attacks etc.

TKE, I am digging on that site. I saw a great bumper sticker yesterday on I-94: John Ashcroft is a Nazi. My poor car would get trashed if I did that...I got harassed enough during the gubernatorial election in Wisconsin driving around in the Doyle mobile.

Yes I can blame the war on the Republican hawks...... just look at the history of the domestic and international policy, and how it changed when the GW took office. While the US was involved in continued military action (along with the UK) against Iraq it was under the auspices of the international community and was tacitly approved of by the UN.

Kosovo was completely fucked up and would not have happened if the US had given the UN more military, legal, and political authority in Bosnia/Serbia/Croatia. When one nation invades another to protect its security and combat terrorism like the US did then thats okay, but when the Serbs do it, its wrong. Look at the history of the conflict a little more closely, including the spin and blatant lies the Pentagon issued. Ironic fact UCK the Albanian "freedom fighters" were trained and supported with money from the heroin drug trade (mostly out of Afganistan) and recieved money, equipment, and training from Mr. Ossama. Nothing is ever so simple as what the black & white interpretation presented by domestic US poltics (or for that matter any politcal party).

Let's not get into the Republicrappy stuff - we can debate these issues in an adult way, without resorting to name-calling.

Oops, pardon me? I was SURE clicked on a thread that said "CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS"...but evidently I clicked on one that said "CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN BASH DEMOCRATS."

Believe it or not, I will quote Tom Earp because I think that "your self-importance is underwhelming" is right on time.
