W_C, you completely missed Hootie's point. One comment in particular on the Texas/Nebraska thread was personal, mean-spirited, and completely out of line--that, I think, is what people were up in arms about.
Kitso and Amy, I think you're both great people and I'd be honored to visit Texas AND Nebraska if it meant I could have a laugh over a beer with the two of you! :) |
[QUOTE]once again, i NEVER said nebraska sucks.
In fairness to Kitso, he never used the word "sucks" and I offered him appologies on a different thread for using the word in my response. In the interest of NOT inviting more flames for anyone, I will not divulge from whom I received PM's. Suffice it to say that, whether the entire thing was meant as a joke or not, some people were offended. My initial entrance into the debate was because I feared that people would be offended. |

Attention pledges (GCers who have been members less than a year)
1. Dissing locations
2. PMing and IMing people behind their backs. 3. Hijacking ^ That is just disrespectful. :p |
The whole thing was laid to rest last night so I'm only going to comment once more.
You say: Personally, I think the problem starts when others come in a thread and say something about their state. Do you think you contributed to that at all? You say: If you can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen As we say here in Nebraska: If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all! |

The way that I look at it is 'stick and stones. . . Besides, we're supposed to be taking this stuff lightly anyway And I know what comment you're talking about It was probably mine;) No one ever goes out of their way to offend anyone But when you're doing a comparison thread of why one state is better than another Jokes are bound to get tossed out there Just like my comment about the whole 'ex in Texas' It was meant as a joke Because literally if he is still in Texas He's probably dating someone in the state No one sees me getting all rustled up(Texas word) about the constant(and often overworn, tiring, and bored) racial issues that come up I just take the comments lightly Post my thoughts And move on And if something really fires me up I calm down, re-read and try to find something smart aleck to say Because you really can't tell (except by the smilies) If someone is kidding around or not |

I simply listed things about my state that people didn't know...and sorry but when something is picked apart (like what I wrote) and commented on inch by inch then yeah, I take that as a personal insult...because obviously they're trying to do more harm than "joke" by bashing each thing I write. I usually don't take things too seriously, but should I chose to, I have that right. Ya didn't say is he dating someone else, you out right said, "Im sorry...did he marry someone from Texas". I didn't see any jokes flying from that entire posts direction. Sorry. I took offense. I'm dropping this entire issue. I asked for that thread to be locked and this was resolved as of last night. It's just drudging things up again and again. |
