Something I did to boost my GPA - I had made a few D's in classes at the beginning of my time at MTSU. They are not required classes, so technically I didn't have to take them over, but I did anyway because when I came back to school was VERY unhappy with that little number that so rules our lives. I did this before even thinking about recruitment - It was important for me to prove to myself that I could raise it, and since I know I'm intelligent, I wanted a GPA that reflects that. As it stood, I had a GPA that said, " I partied alot myy freshman year!"
By the way, I pulled a 3.667 last semester - GO ME! |
I have a question......
At my school, the minimum GPA to rush is a 2.0 However, I know different sororities have different GPAs. Are those GPA's for rush or for initiation? I mean it would make sense for all sororities to require only a 2.0 if that is what the minumum GPA to rush is. Then, after they have been initiated, then they would have to remain the sorority minimum. I am confused?! |

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got my grades. it is two B's and 1 C. I was expecting two B's and 1 A. my GPA now is only a 2.39. it was 2.28. i am so disappointed!!!!!!!!! i didnt make the GPA reqirement for AXO or DG. I am getting recs for both. do i still have a chance?:( :( :(

I have to be honest and say that at least for DG I don't think there is much hope. Grades are very important and in a formal rush situation, I believe most sororities cut for grades right off the bat. Best of luck though, don't give up!

Same with Alpha Chi Omega. Our chapter cuts for grades the first night. Grade exceptions can be made for pnm's who have had extenuating circumstances though (death of family member, extremely sick family member etc) and have shown that they are capable of making grades (high school gpa, transfer gpa's from another college, etc). If this is the case, you may want to talk to your panhellenic office about it. Our greek system is small, and our panhellenic really tries to make sure girls find a home during recruitment. Can't hurt to try! Good luck!
