Post the number here? LOL.

The other night the bf and I stayed at a hotel for our anniversary and the phone rings at 3:30 am, the conversation went something like this:

Other guy: "Is John there?"
BF: "John? Are you sure you got the right name?" (Bf's last name contains "john" in it so he thought the guy might have confused the name)
Other guy: "Are you staying at __ hotel? Room #__?" (he got the right hotel name and room number which was creepy)
BF: "uh yeah..."
Other guy: "I was just talking to you online in the XYZ chat room and you told me to call you"
BF: "definitely not..."

We think it was one of the people next to us since no one else would be able to spout off the hotel, address and room # like that...its fun to think think that one of the people next to us had a creepy cybersex fetis and got the numbers wrong ;)

I don't know if these were pranks or were just a case of mistaken identity.

Last year, at about 4am, I got woken up by a call on my cell phone. It sounded like there were a group of guys on the other line. They were trying to get me to go over. I kept asking who they were and how they got my number. They were like "It's Seth and Eamon from Beta. We met at the Darkhorse the other night and you gave us your number." And I'm like "I don't know anyone from Beta. I haven't been to the Darkhorse in over a year. And I never give my phone number out." They kept trying to talk me into going over to their house. I was like "I don't know who you guys are. I think you have the wrong person. Sorry boys, but it's late and I'm going back to bed." The whole thing was pretty funny and amusing, except for the fact that I have no idea how they got my name and number...unless they looked it up in the Greek directory and made up the story about meeting me at the Darkhorse.

Two days ago, I got a facebook friend request from this guy from Pittsburgh named Kip (he looked to be about my age) and a facebook message that went something like "Hey Amy, this is Kip ___ from the VFW in Monroeville. You submitted an application but you didn't put your phone number. Please call me or Alex ____ at (phone number). Also, please be my friend." WTF?? First of all, I never applied to anyplace in Monroeville. Secondly, if this was for real, why the friend request...it seems unprofessional if this was for real. If they really needed to contact me, why didn't they look up my email on the supposed application I submitted or looked up my PSU email address (since they knew my name and my school)

My grade school best friend and I used to do this one late at night when we slept over at each other's houses:
We'd call some number at random from the phone book. When the person would answer, we'd use our sleepiest voices and say "I'm sorry to bother you, but your dog is barking at my cat and I can't get to sleep." Most of the time, the person would say "I don't have a dog." We'd perk up and say "That's OK, I don't have a cat!" One time, though, the guy who answered said "Fine, I'll bring the dog in!" and slammed the phone down.

This used to absolutely slay us.

That is funny for grade school.

In 6th grade while at a sleepover, we decided to do some random prank calling. I called this lady and told her that her husband had left his undies at my house and hung up. We weren't smart enough to block our number back then, so she called back after we'd all gone to sleep. She told my friend's mom and we got in trouble. We still laugh about it to this day.

She was probably very certain, in her drunken state, that he WAS there and you were just lying to keep him to yourself!

These aren't necessarily prank calls, but worth noting...

1. My phone number is close to a nearby store's phone number. It's only off by one digit. Whenever people call here asking if I have a certain thing in stock, I answer "We have not had ______ in stock for 7 years, get with the times, buddy!"

2. I have a friend who sometimes answer our calls with a fart. Ewwww, lol. You hear *ring* *ring* *PFFFRRRRTTTTT*

Gotta love those people who can fart on command. Lucky dogs. :)

Was anyone ever young enough to get caught by the refridgerator running gag? And have friends young enough to actually DO it?

*raises hand* I must have been just old enough to dial the phone and know how to answer it, and so was my friend. Now it's just kind of embarassing to admit getting caught by it. :p
