I couldn't access this board yesterday to check EBay usernames so if I outbid someone on the pledge pin I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure I kept it from a collector.

yah - it was me you outbid, but it's not a biggie. i'm bidding on a bgsu pin now (my initiating chapter) though...

I'm sure whoever outbid me on the pearl badge today didn't mean to! I'm agdzo020.

Two things...

One.. a thought to ponder... if we don't purchase the badges and use some legal information I asked a law friend of mine, do you think that interest in selling Badges would go down?

two... I think my ebay is not working because Susan you are the highest bidder on one of the badges and no one is bidding on the first badge you come to (there are 3 today).

Another thing... we had discussed this before but what if we were to get IHQ to include a one time $10 to $20 fee for each woman who pledges to cover a badge recovery program. I know that there are many other things that that could be used for, but if we could do this than we could make sure to get all the badges back (or at least more than we are doing now).

i know some groups, GPhiB comes to mind, that have a special task force for this specific purpose. i wouldn't mind contributing some money to a program, especially with the prices being driven up so high, usually by collectors. i know there have been times where i've bid on a pin that i really want, but the price just gets too high and i can't afford it

I was actually high bidder on both...now I'm only on one of them. :( I've been buying and then returning the badges to IHQ.

That is so great of you Susan.. I hope to one day have that type of funds. I figure that if we pull our money together, those of us who can't save one badge by ourself, could save one as a group.

We could do it. Just like SS, where we get a group of people together and then one person is responsible for buying it and sending it on to IHQ. Then we split the cost between the people who are participating. We would all have to be very responsible and send the checks to the person acting as the buyer.

For example, Susan is already purchasing them. If I had Susan's mailing address I could send her a check for a portion of the price. Since I don't have the funds to purchase one at $75, I do have $10 I could send to her. If there were 7 or 8 of us willing to participate then it would only 10 to 15 dollars a piece and we save a badge.

It is just an idea. We could form the Band of Sisters, Saving Badges. BSSB!

Does anyone know who carpandgal is on eBay? I was going to outbid her on an old Alpha Gam badge but don't want to if she's a sister.

Thanks!

My nickname on ebay is hyphenatedlady...the same as here. I bid on AGD stuff all the time so try not to slaughter me:eek:

DWAlphaGam 07-27-2004 09:06 AM

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that "SandSing7" is a sister. She was complaining that she kept getting outbid by other sisters, so I told her I'd let you guys know who she was. :)
