PMS is no joke. The actually period isn't that bad. It's the pms that gets me. I pms for like 2 weeks before I actually start. 2 weeks of me being crabby and bloated. Not fun.

I take Alleve for my cramps. It ususally takes about 45 minutes for the meds to kick in, but after that I'm good to go

Sometimes I get it really bad...sometimes not at all....

My mom told me tonight that my cousin, who is like my little sister, joined the womanhood today. Poor baby, she just turned 11. I got mine right after turning 11 too. It sucks, a lot.

After 7 days, come back at your own risk.

Lady Pi Phi 05-01-2003 07:27 AM

I joined the ranks of woman hood at 11 too. Not only that, but to days later I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, so that was a fun week for me.

So for 2 wks I've had all of the PMS signs etc, but haveI got my period? NO It's a week late. Which is frustarating because now I don't know when I am going to get it. I woke up in a bitchy mood so noone better mess with me.

There was a study done once, that showed that women living together in groups (e.g. prisons, dorms) all got their periods at the same time.
aephi alum, It's true! I lived in a boarding school for high school and my roommate and I were "synchronized". So were the girls in the room beside us (synched with each other) as were the girls across the hall and the girls down the hall.

I live with a female roommate now and we are synched as well.

I know that this happens, but how?

Ok, I could be totally wrong, but I vaguely remember reading something about this. Like the body gives off chemicals or something and that is how it happens

I heard taking advil during a heavy flow will slow it down some. Not sure how true it is.

And, doesn't Tylenol make it worse?

Yes Phermones, its done by smell.

So wait, would that happen in a sorority house also? Like 100 girls psynched? Sheez the girls themselves would probably run away for that week.

it would definitely happen! i lived in an apt with three other girls for my junior and senior year and we all had ours at the same time...

By Pheremones.

As for the entire sorority house, maybe not the entire house would be synched, but the occupants of the individual rooms would be "synched", because the women within the room are living, studying, sleeping within close proximity of each other.

I live in a smallish apt, so that would explain why my roomie and I are synched.

33girl 05-01-2003 04:00 PM

It depends how big the house is...if it's a dorm-like structure not everyone will synch, just the girls who share bedrooms. as for smaller houses, let's just say thank heavens there are such things as chemically altered periods LOL.

Supposedly hot baths increase the flow, cold showers decrease it (I think this is largely BS). Drinking a lot can shut your flow down to an extent.

I have you all beat! I got my period when I was NINE.

And it's not so much sex that helps alleviate cramps, it's having an orgasm. The contractions squeeze your uterus and help cramps go away.

Trust me, I've tried ;)
