Recruitmant conselors are supposed to help PNMs during the process while being unbiased----answer questions, help with scheduling, promoting the Panhellenic system, "counsel" those that need it. They shoud also attend and be watching the groups during parties to be sure the time limits are observed and that no infractions happen.
As for a purse, first check the rules on your campus. If allowed and there is someone to watch it during parties, then take one but not with everything you own in it! Fortunately at the campus I advise at, the PNMs travel by vans to the parties and the girls leave their purses locked up in them. You really don't want to navigate with it during the party though, they can get in the way. |
To monitor the time, our rho chi's would knock on the door 5 mins before the party officially began, then 2 min knock and then a 1 min knock and then the doors open. Same process for leaving the parties.
They were REALLY strict about starting the parties at officially the right and time and ending at the right time. It was rather neat |
dude whatever......only girls can take up to three pages talking about whether or not a purse is apporitate for rush. Jesus Horatio Christ.

I'm curious, if this thread bothers you so much, why did you keep reading it?
Christin |
hehe.... why did you even read it in the first place? It does say "purse" in the title :p just teasing

At CSULB, the recruitment counselors wait outside the houses while the party goes on inside. Though, last time I saw some RC's outside (I lived near one of the sorority houses), they didn't appear to be carrying anyone else's belongings.

I know it was a silly question merely asking about bringing a purse to rush, but I'd rather ask everything I was curious about, even if it was something as small as this, just so i can be as best prepared sas I can be when it comes time to do it. So to all who have responded, thank you SO much! Have a great day everyone ;)

I didn't read it at all. Just decided to make a comment. :) It doesn't really bother me, though.

We're not allowed to bring purses at my school. It's to prevent PNM's from taking things out of the houses (such as a napkin) and then get the sorority a fine.
Our Rho Gamma's distribute plastic bags on the first night. We then go home and put everything in those plastic bags. The Rho Gamma's hold it for us when we go into the houses. |

As my father always told me, "If you don't know, ASK." ;) .....Kelly :) |
RedFox, ask your rho gamma at your orientation session. She'll know.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with asking a question -- but people are allowed to comment at will. I am just imagining the DZO's discussing this.... Nicole - do you think Tim will like my purse? Julia - I dunno -- how big is it? Does it come in black? Maggie - EVERYBODY GET UP - the sisters want to know if we should be allowed to own a purse! heeheehee!! Oh, and for the comment about perfume -- PLEASE for the love of all that is sacred -- LEAVE IT AT HOME!! Nothing is worse...hmm...almost nothing is worse than being stuck with a PNM who stinks because she mistook the house for the club! |
