One of my fave cult movies is "Waiting for Guffman." Absolutely HILARIOUS! If you haven't seen it, its a must-rent!!! :D

I don't consider John Hughes films "cult" or "B" films, since they all made boatloads of $$$, were promoted out the yin-yang and pretty much everyone my age saw them. The Last American Virgin or Spring Fever, now that's another story.

I will watch Soylent Green or the Omega Man anytime (although I don't think Omega Man will be on TV again till the war is over) and I also get sucked into those really bad 1950's teen movies...the ones where everyone thinks Sandra Dee is a tart just because she has enormous boobs.

Donnie Darko

Anyone seen "Donnie Darko"? Very strange, yet interesting. After watching it I kinda stared at my tv for a minute thinking "What the hell just happened?"

I've mentioned this once before...

At the time it wasn't a B movie , but it was such a piece of shit that you can't imagine anyone taking it seriously. The cinematic masterpiece is...
Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Anyone else seen it??? I love the part where he's driving off the cliff and you can see a behind the scenes guy pulling the roadsigns with a string... pure crappy genius.

Yes, I agree. PWBA was totally Craptacular. I will never forget the scene with large marge. Still makes me chuckle uncontrollably.

There's a movie called Ed Wood about the director. Includes a little of the background from Plan 9.

Several items of interest.. but my favorite would be the simulated flying saucers -- 2 paper plates glued together and you can see the string!

I love it when they're in the graveyard and one of the characters sort of trips into the tombstone and you can see it wobbling like it's made out of cardboard . . . :D Or how about the scenes when, during the establishing shot, it's nighttime, and then they cut into the close-ups in the same scene and it's daytime, or vice versa -- with absolutely no explanation for it!

I gotta second the nominations for "Earth Girls Are Easy," and "Grease 2." The guy who plays Michael went on to play Sexy Rexy in "Empire Records!"

"Donnie Darko" is a really good movie too . . . and Jake Gyllenhaal is yummy. I have to admit I have a hard time buying his relationship with Jena Malone, though, considering the fact that she looks about 12 and he looks like he's 22.

Oh my god! I just saw that movie the other day. Sooooooo f*cked up, but I liked it. Best part of the movie:

Girl 1: "What are feces?"
Girl 2: "Baby mice"
Girl 1: "Awwww"

"North Shore." An extremely cheesy 1980s surfing movie. So dumb and (unintentionally) funny.

Maybe I am getting old, but I remember when brat-packer movies like "The Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink" were mainstream! It's shocking to think of them as cult flicks or really even B-movies. They were extremely popular when I was in high school. :)

B Movie fav

My sister LOVES him, but I think any movie with Lorezo Lamas in it qualifies as a B movie. His movies are not that bad, they are just below par, as in you can tell they were made on a small budget.
