Fantastic news!! I also heard that Texas A&M will have a new Gamma Phi colony in the near future. Don't know if this is on for fall or for fall 2004.

Your "stupid hat" isn't working real well. Yes, it's this fall. |
YES, gamma phi is colonizing at Texas A & M this fall, although i'm not sure which one. commerce maybe? i know we have a chapter at one of the other campuses but i'm not sure.
can anyone help me out here? |
The one I was talking about was the new colony at Texas A&M main campus at College Station. Good for the Aggies ( and that takes some doing for this Longhorn to say!) for making this happen!

growth is a wonderful thing....

Congratulations!

Fall 2004 Gamma Phi Beta will be added to the University of South Carolina. Sorry I didn't tell y'all sooner, but I haven't been able to log in lately.:) Congratulations Gamma Phi Beta!

Is Carolina recruitment very competitive? A family friend might rush there this fall and I was wondering what advice to give her without making her too nervous!
|
well....
...from what I have heard it is!

Yes, it's pretty competitive. Without recs or knowing the "right" people, you're choices will probably be narrowed down to 5 of the 9 sororities. And most sororities avoid taking sophomores unless they just come with THAT good of an application, but most sororities if not all will take one or two sophomores. My best advice... go through recruitment open-minded. Don't decide before you go through where you want to go... because otherwise you may be disappointed or you may go through and realize that reputations aren't always true. But, yes, definitely tell her to rush, and tell her to avoid listening to the talk outside the rooms about the sororities and make the decision on her own.:)
PS-Make sure she's aware of the range of dues. This year they go from $1,000-$3,500/year. She needs to be aware of the cost of living in a house/cost of not living in a house, etc... |
