We don't have Spring Recruitment, however, we will be doing COR- Continuous Open Recruitment (COB but we call it COR) January 28-30th I believe. We are hoping for a large new member group. I'll try to update ya'll on the results. Best wishes to all potential new members who are going through spring recruitment and to those chapters who are participating in spring recruitment.

But i am Soooooooooo excited about rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have to worry about that happening. We have 600+ girls signed up for rush. There is no way I'd (or any other Purdue sorority members on GC, which I think there is only one other) be able to figure out who you were. And I definitely would not try to persuade you in any way to join my chapter. Purdue has 16 chapters participating in formal rush and I am certain that there is more than one you'd feel at home with.

Good luck during recruitment and maybe by some small chance, I'll get to rush you if you come to my house.

P.S. Stay warm out there! I remember how cold I was last year!! :)

If anyone knows anything about Greek life at Maryland - let me know, it sounds great! [/B]
Iowa, one of my greatest friends happens to be the Panhellenic Coordinator there :) All of the sororities are great, so good luck to her!

Tracie

p.s. As the Greek Advisor at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH we have recruitment the first week in February. Chapters participating are:

Alpha Sigma Alpha
Delta Zeta
Iota Delta Chi (local)
Tau Omega (local)
Kappa Delta Phi nas (regional)

Mercer has a spring rush for the fraternities (I think, but it's my first year here :) ) but the sororities don't participate in spring rush. I know that the University of Richmond has spring rush because my friend is going through. Another friend also told me that University of North Florida normally has spring rush but it got cancelled this year for some reason.

Edited for clarity :)

St. Mary's is having Formal Recruitment beginning at the end of january. i'm pretty excited/nervous about it. I know we'll pick up some wonderful ladies!

My sister is going through rush at Duke in a week and a half! I am soooo excited for her, I think she will really enjoy being ina sorority. If anyone knows anything about the sororities at Duke, tell me!!! Is rush competitive? Should we scramble to get her recs? I'm getting her a Chi O one, and I can probably scrounge up a Pi Phi one too, but it would be tough. Anyway, all the info possible is good, and I'll keep you posted!

Georgetown College SR
Alpha Gamma Delta
Kappa Delta
Phi MU
Sigma Kappa

Will all be participating in Recruitment. I can understand why numbers would be lower for the Spring Schools but I think that it is better for the groups as a whole. That way ladies aren't making surface discisons about the group that they choose.

I'm a big fan of deferred Rush, too. I'd imagine our numbers would be way higher if we did it in the Fall, but we're about quality over quantity right now (and we can recruit upperclasswomen in the fall, so it's not as if we're not always rushing!). I think it's more important to have 5 women make a solid commitment and to be active later on in the year than it is to have 10 women make a commitment and have 3-4 depledge first semester or deactivate later on.

I know that some of the sororities at the University of Wisconsin will be having informal recruitment (mine is one of them!). It'll be my first time "on the other side" and I'm really excited.

I'll try to get some information on which other sororities are doing informal rush too -- I know there are more.

APhiAngel-

Yes, we can still have formal rush...its just that the University doesn't sponsor the events, and we can't advertise on campus. We have excellent IFC and Panhellenic support, and they monitor and administer rush in exactly the same manner as it was done when we were still on campus. Hopefully numbers this year will be at an all-time high...us rush chairs have been working our butts off this year!

sarahgrace 01-04-2003 12:22 AM

Yup, I'm going to be going through recruitment in just a few weeks...January 18th-26th. I'm not TOO nervous yet!!

nucutiepie 01-04-2003 12:42 AM

Northwestern will also be having formal rush in january, sororities are:

Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi

SmartBlondeGPhB 01-04-2003 12:44 AM

Good Luck and there's nothing to be nervous about.....

All the houses you have to choose from are wonderful.

From what I have heard, rush at Duke is more relaxed.

I have a close friend from high school that just transferred to Appalachain State University and is rushing. Their rush is in late Janurary and they have: Phi Mu, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Delta, Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, Alpha Delta Pi, and Delta Zeta. I have another friend that is already a Sig Kap there.

Elon and Wake Forest Universities also hold winter rush.

My friend who is a Kappa Delta at East Carolina University told me they have informal rush coming up in February.

And of course Washington and Lee rush starts Monday (January 6th!!!!!)

SnakeyKPledge 01-06-2003 06:38 PM

I'm a Sigma Kappa at Appalachian State...who is your friend? And we do have rush starting January the 26th, and bid day is the 1st of Feb.
