the kappa eta chapter of sai was founded by 13 lovely ladies, that i'm happy to say i have met every one of them...well we were just founded two years ago ;-)

Alpha Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi first started as a local fraternity in 1921 named Delta Kappa Rho, whose intent was to meet the chartering requirements for affiliation with a national fraternity. From the shape of their badge and the letter combinations, their original intent was to affiliate with Delta Kappa Epsilon, but DKE wasn't interested in expanding out west at that time. They petitioned Phi Kappa Sigma, but they were also denied. In 1923, they petitioned Alpha Sigma Phi and on May 16, 1923 the first sixteen members of DKR became the charter members of Alpha Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.

Having served its purpose, the motto of the now-defunct DKP was revealed: the Greek initials stood for the English motto, "Death Keeps (its) Rewards".

Alpha Alpha remained active until 1938 when its charter was pulled. It was not reactivated until 1948, and remained active in its second rebirth until 1986. It was revived a third time in 1997, but again went dormant in 2000.
