I never got it done because I think it's too "trendy". It does seem very stereotypical "sorority girl", as bad as that sounds.
In about 60 years, nursing homes are going to be very funny places...sagging tattoos, all sorts of former piercings, etc. I remember the first three or four weeks of freshman year, when all the little girls got their tongues pierced as soon as they could. I feel like once the novelty of the piercing (and the attention that came with it) wore off, then they were gone. |

I got my tongue pierced in my second year at university. Way before I joined Pi Phi. It was something that I wanted all through highschool, but I didn't have the money or the guts. I didn't get it done for some guy (all though I have had no complaints) It was something that I wanted and something I did for me. If and when I decide to take out my tongue piercing I can gurantee that there will be no visible trace of a piercing there. The tongue heals itself very quickly. And as for my tattoos I do not regret getting them because I did it for meyself and my tattoos are of symbols that are very meaningful to me. I think it's important to think carefully before getting it done, but it you do it for yourself then who care what other people think. Don't judge us because we have done something you don't "like" or "approve" of. Some of us may regret doing it. Others may not. I don't. It's a personal preference. There is no right or wrong.

Has anyone ever bitten their tongue? I don't know about yall, but that mess HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. I'm not piercing anything beyond my ears (I got 2 on one side and 4 on the other, I messed up the other two on the 2 side, if that made sense). When I was at my old school, it was THE thing to do. EVERYBODY went to get their tongue pierced. And they ALL had pain. One guy swole up like a blowfish (they laughed at him though because he cried like a baby after talking all hard about getting it done LOL.) AND they all tooted a tongue rings sexual enhancement (but I know all tongue ringers don't do that). But what about "other" piercing. Do you guys do any of that (nipple or below the belt [EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!]
   |

although i personally don't like them and wouldn't get one, to each his own! if it's what you like, go for it!
most of the people i know who had one were in high school. by junior year of college everyone had gotten rid of theirs. i think the novelty wore off. and for everyone who student taught, they had to get rid of all their piercings besides their ears my sister had one and her tongue swelled up badly! she couldn't eat for days. now she teaches so she took it out but she does have a scar. ps. why does the original poster have 0 posts when obviously she has at least 2? did i miss something? |
Everyone is going on and on about how much the swell up. Well of course it's going to swell. Mine swelled up. I couldn't eat for 2 days. It's completely normal! Depending on the person, it will take a different amount of time to hel and for the swelling to go down. People I know had there swelling go down in a couple of hours, some a few days. It all depends on the person. Also, getting your tongue pierced is the least painful piercing. It will hurt afterwards, when it DOES swell up, but that's normal. If the piercing gets infected it because either, the piercer did a bad job, or the person did not properly take care of the piercing. They tell you for at least 2 weeks after getting it doen you MUST rinse your mouth out with mouthwash or a salene solution after putting anything in your mouth...I mean anything. That's food, drink, cigarettes, well you get the idea. They only time you didn't have to rinse with the mouthwash was if you just drank water.
If you don't like it because it's not your style that's cool, but to dismiss it because of pain...for the ladies I'm assuming you don't want children because THAT'S PAIN, well I think we need to get some facts straight. My carteledge (sp?) hurt more than my tongue. Carteledge hurt more than my tattoos General Healing time is 3-4 weeks. There will be swelling for a peak of about 48 hours after the piercing was done. This can last a few hours to about 10 days. Obviously this piercing is not perfect and not everyone will like it. But I want to leat everyone know it is not painful, and if you take proper care of it there should be no problems. |

hahahahahahhahaha :)
so true, crystalline... he's well gone now, so no worries! |
I don't have a tongue ring, I've never thought about getting a tongue ring, and I've never kissed anyone with a tongue ring. My husband thought about it a few times but he never followed through with it. Anyone have chipped teeth from tongue rings? I have no problem with people having pierced tongues...I just can't stand the sound it makes when people bang the metal on their teeth...DRIVES ME NUTS!!
I think nipple rings are sexy!!! |
