Back in my younger days in the Air Farce, the barracks parties over at 'Stalag 177' and 'Stalag 178' (the enlisted barracks) were pretty wild on weekends. I used to make a killer Lawn Guisland (that's Long Island for you non-Noo Yawkers :) ) iced tea. Here's my recipe: 1/2 oz. Vodka (Smirnoff or better preferred) 1/2 oz. Gin (Gordon's or Tanqueray preferred) 1/2 oz. Rum (Bacardi Silver or Captain Morgan Silver) 1/2 oz. Triple Sec (Cointreau preferred) 1 oz. Sweet & Sour mix a little Rose's Lime juice Top lightly with Cherry Coke to taste and for color. Done right, it'll taste like an iced tea with lemon and you won't taste any alcohol at all on the first drink, on the second, or the third... this sh*t WILL sneak up on you! :D I was taught long ago that a LI Iced Tea doesn't have tequila in it, if you add tequila it's a 'Texas Tea' (and I'm not talkin' about oil! :) ). The other house specialties were trashcan punch and Bitburger 'mortar shells' (1/2-liter bottles). Good thing the base clinic was across the street! |
You know what? After last night combining tequila and 151 shots all night I began to ponder the worth of mixed drinks, lol. I pondered a lot of things that night. Yep.
