FYI, Max Headroom reruns now come on Tech TV.
I caught a glimpse of it the other day, and I RAN, freaking out, to tell my little sister (15) on Instant Messenger. Apparently she doesn't remember it. It was an exciting moment anyway :p |
Personally, I like the early 90's better. :)

I have not read through all the posts... So forgive me if this is a repeat...
Two words...... Speed Skates... Roller Skating was big in Virginia Beach in the early 80s!!!!!!!! And if you were cool you had speed skates, they looked like black sneakers with white racing strips and cool special wheels.... And if you were really cool you could do fancy line skating... Yes indeed... loved late grammer school. |
Re: another related list...
Okay, sorry to burst peoples' bubbles, but I was born in 1983, and I remember MOST of those things!!! Some of them may have been things I "heard" about later on, but many I actually remember/know about.

LOL >Atari predates them **my best friend in 3rd grade had one of these >They have likely never played Pac Man **I played Pac Man plenty of times! They don't know what a cloth baby diaper is **My mom used these on me! or know about the "Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial. **We used to joke about this ALL THE TIME in elementary school. >Roller-skating has always meant inline for them. **Yes, I had both the nice leather roller SKATES as well as the crappy plastic skates that you could buy at your local gas station waaaay before I ever got rollerblades. >They have no idea when or why Jordache jeans were cool. **I had a few pairs, they were still cool all through the '80s. >They have never seen Larry Bird play. **True, BUT, I did know who he was even back in the '80s cuz we talked about him in West Virginia History class since he used to play for WVU. >They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. **I saw this movie plenty of times when I was small, even though the first one came out about a yr or two before I was born. >They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are. **my mom told me she used to have some >They don't know who Mork was **I watched re-runs of this all the time. >They never heard: "Where's the beef? ", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel," or "De plane, de plane! " **I've heard about all of these. >They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. **We had one when I was little. We didn't have a computer until 1996! |

Although...Jay Leno took over the tonight show in 1992 - the class of 2005 was 8 then. I think most 8 year olds know the difference between Johnny Carson and Jay Leno :p I was born in 1980. Part of me will always live in the 80s. Friday night, while waiting for take-out, my boy and I squared off at a game of Pac Man. On one of the 2 player tables. Damn, those things are cool. I so want one for my house. I'm wearing my Care Bears t-shirt right now. They have Care Bear slippers at Hot Topic. They are so cool! |
I rememeber Beta! Haha. Also, growing up in the 80's i was well aware of the cold war. :( :)
|
I still have my family's BetaMax, along with the collection of tapes...one of them being the only copy of my appearance on MTV's Remote Control (1988)...wearing a KD jersey, of course.
My "kinky perm" & subsequent Flock-of-Seagulls hairstyle had grown out by then, since it was a few months before graduation & I figured I needed to have somewhat normal hair to interview.... this was the 80's Corporate America, ya know... ;) Yeah, being a collegian during the 80s was really fun... http://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/bl...milecrunch.gif |
You know what I miss from the 80's. A certain style of jacket, called the name of its manufacturer. Member's Only. One must needs be a member to wear one.
