Tattoos personally aren't my thing, but lots of the guys who were active at the same time I was do have Lambda Chi Alpha tattoos of some sort. My associate brother, Chris, had the cross & crescent on his ankle with the letters in the center. It was actually a really nice-looking one. Another brother, also named Chris, had one that he had originally drawn himself so it looked kind of funny. One of my little brothers, a guy named Jimmy, was a total nutjob and burned the letters into his arm with a wire. The blister and scar eventually spread and became some kind of indistinguishable blob.
I was happy to just wear a shirt. |

If I ran the circus I'd ask that the Committee on Emblems & Ritual look at the whole tattoo issue. I'm not in favor of them. And I'd make branding, either giving or getting an expulsion offense.

Brian Setzer's father gave the best advice ever on tattoos:
"Never get a tatto where a judge can see it." |
John,
What is so offensive about branding? I know a Brother who has Delta Pi branded on his upper shoulder, and alot of people, including myself, think its pretty cool. I think if anyone is interested in branding they should do some research on how to do it CORRECTLY, and seriously look into buying a professionally made custom cattle brand. You can find several companies online, and they usually charge less than $100 to make it for you. We had 3 that we had in mind: 1) Cross and Crescent 2) Delta Pi aligned vertically 3) LXA aligned diagonally I also think GZs advice is very valid about keeping things like tatoos and branding inconspicuous. My choice was to have the DP branded on the upper part of my thigh, obvious to noone but myself, but a constant reminder of the oath that i took and the path that i chose. Also, if anyone is thinking about doing this, I would talk to members of Omega Psi Phi, because they always seem to have good brands, so they must know what they are doing. |
I want to get my Z# on my upper arm.. plain black like a prison tat..

I agree with Trey. I think MAKING someone get branded is an expulsionary offense, but if you want to brand something that means a lot to you onto your body, you're free to do it.
I would brand delta pi onto my body, but I just don't like the idea of being branded. More power to you guys who have teh nuts to brand yourselves. |
Soy, but at my elder age, I do not want someone to put a hot poker to any part of my body!
Nor, do I feel a tattoo is something that I feel that I need in my life! When I or should I say someone sees the C & C, it will be on my tomb stone. It is already in my will!:D Not many will see it and the few who do will ask, what is that and what does it mean! I will know whether anyone else does or not! |
I met a lady who had a Yellow Rose Tattooed on her hip. I asked her to show me!
She did and I bent to kiss it! Later, I once again saw it and once again kissed it and then, well use your imagination!:D Told her it would be nice if she had a white Rose placed next to it!;) |
Copyright and Trademark
Greetings,
I wonder if you are supposed to put a copyright or trademark symbol by your tattoo? Or, does the tattoo artist have to pay a royalty to IHQ? Yours in ZAX, MJR - ZUZ |

There are many ways for a member to have constant reminders of the oath he took and the path he chose, such as donating money to his chapter or the Educational Foundation, by being active in an area or chapter alumni association, contributing to a newsletter, serving on a house corporation or as High Pi, or as a mentor, or on an alumni advisory board, or volunteering to edit the Cross & Crescent or the website. The list goes on. There are many things of substance that can really make a difference, and they are constant reminders of what we signed up for, and of a lifetime commitment. I have nothing against tattoos and I don't even mind if someone is dumb enough to burn himself with a hot poker, but it's a poor substitute for actually doing something meaningful. Saying "I branded myself to show how devoted I am" is a bunch of nonsense as far as I'm concerned, and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding. |
