The last poll I heard, it was Oklahoma -- but that was a while ago. However, the National Merit Office at O.U. promised us that they would be number one this year. They wouldn't lie, would they?

I'm having doubts! Bama really cleaned Oklahoma's clock in the second half today.

I wouldn't say the OU win was a fluke -- big teams make big plays -- but they sure didn't look like a national champion team. You can't win many games with negative rushing yardage.

GO CLONES! Beat the Hawks (again) (and again) :D

Boo... Navarre sucks a big royal ass!

UMgirl 09-15-2002 12:03 AM

*One PISSED OFF UM Alumna*

Navarre kinda blew when I was at UM. I would think he would have gotten better after almost 2 years. GUESS NOT! :(

oh well I have been a ND fan since I was 10. So part of me is happy, like 30%. I am all about the Lou Holtz/ Rick Meyer/ Jerome Bettis years ;)

I've only drank before 11 AM once in my life, and that was before the last Pitt-Penn State game (which started at 3:30 but we were drinkin' at 10!). In order to get in ANY tailgating time I have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn on a Saturday! Thank god i'm staying in tonight! I can't imagine waking up on the West Coast and games already going on on tv at 9 in the morning!

I know the pain.

Last year, kickoff against BYU was set for 11:30 to accomodate ESPN. Gates opened at 7:30 for the tailgaters. We got to the stadium to get in line at 5 just so we could get our usual spot. I really don't suggest drinking at the butt crack of dawn. AGDLynn knows what I'm talking about.

EagleChick19 09-15-2002 12:33 AM

Penn State (PA) beat Nebraska 40-7! But, their kick-off time was at 7 PM. I went to State College today, and it was a madhouse!! One rule I learned: Never go to State College on PSU home game days!!!

Tailgating/Noon Games

Going to Michigan, you get very use to having Noon/1pm games. We may get two 3pm games and the only time we get a night game is when we play Northwestern at their stadium. For some reason the Big House does not have night lights for a game (but instead of spending them on that, they decided to go out and put an UGLY-FUGLY a$$ halo around the stadium that cost way to much, which they took down after 3 weeks cuz everyone hated it)
But for Big games like ND, OSU and MSU tailgating especially for alumni starts at seriously 5am in the morning (Pioneer HS parking lot along with the UM golf course). Students tend to start at like 8/9am. Everyone gets to the stadium early cuz driving and walking to it takes forever, especially when ESPN's Game Day comes.

Does anyone else sell parking spots on their front lawns? A lot of students did this for ppl cuz parking on Game Saturdays suck and use the money for kegs???
It's so bad that you can actually get a ticket for parking in certain areas of A2 (Ann Arbor) on game day.

PM_Mama00 09-15-2002 11:06 AM

UMgirl, I hear ya! Even though I go to Dearborn, it may be even worse! For noon games, wake up at 7am, leave at 8am, get there by 9am (if we're lucky with traffic), tailgate till 11:30am, pack up and walk to game, miss kickoff cuz the stupid gate people only keep ONE gate open and people are pushing to get to the front, leave game early cuz it's too hot walking up and down to the 29th row of section 29 almost makes us pass out. OH boy!!!! Can't wait for the State game!!! Is that a nooner or 3? I remember 2 years ago it was 3... and that was awesome!

Nebraska is NOT a driving campus. You can drive around the perimeter but not actually through campus (which I like...means I don't have to walk more than 10 minutes to any of my classes). However this of course means that there is no parking. We have the pledge class sell spots in our back parking lot, and they get to keep the money for whatever they need to spend it on (froshes, sneaks, gifts to the house). Normally about 20 brothers get to park back there, but on game day I know we managed to fit 31 cars back there. We usually charged 10 bucks a car and 15 for something like a suburban. Charged more for Notre Dame last year and earned $395 in three hours (that is a lot of kegs...hmm:cool:)

All I gota say is that MICHIGAN ROCKS!!!

The UM/Penn State game got a lil boring, so people decided to blow up a giant penis and toss it around. That was some entertainment. Then some fans stole the cheerleaders NOISE sign, passed it around, police came in the bleachers to find who had it.... duh. With 111,000 and some, u really think ur gona find him?

Anyways back to the game. The first overtime to be played in Michigan Stadium and we won!! At first we all lost hope in QB John Navarre... actually we always lose hope in him. But something kicked in and we won, in overtime, 27-24. It was the best football game I've ever watched.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!

KSig RC 10-13-2002 04:24 PM

Iowa Hawkeyes: #16 in the nation, and w/out a horrific collapse in the 2nd half of one game would undoubtably be higher . . . for IowaHawkeye and Valkyrie:

In heaven there is no beer, that's why we drink it here - and when we're gone from here, all our friends will be drinking all the beer . . .

Thanks Rob, you bring up a good point - in heaven there is no beer, the traditional Iowa student section song... such a beautiful thing...

The Hawks are doing great this year - were 6-1 with 5 games left in the season. According to the AP - we're #15 - GO HAWKS! Watch out Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Minnesota (we're bringing Floyd home!) - it's on.

The word is Fight, Fight,
Fight for IOWA,
Let every loyal Iowan sing;
The word is Fight, Fight,
Fight for IOWA,
Until the walls and,
rafters ring,
(Go Hawks!),
Come on and cheer,
cheer, cheer
for IOWA
Come on and cheer until you hear
the final gun.
The word is Fight, Fight, Fight for IOWA
Until the game is won.
