i'm so glad!
I'm so glad to have you GC girls ! So encouraging, especially since I have some friends being asked back to a few more than I did- fortunately, I'm not too close with anyone who got asked back to more than 10!
Thou I think I saw just lots of names on some people's cards... darn, probably because my high school gpa was a lil off I had probably a 3.0 (instead of a 2.7)... my school doesn't do weighting, or ranking, but that's not my fault! I adore the school I went to- even if it's not like a feeder school into a specific sorority ! *mk* (it's an out of state high school) |
hopefulgreek,
First, Congratulations on your invites! You have absolutely wonderful chapters to see so if I were you I'd be thrilled! Love to see that Alpha Delta Pi is on your list--yeah!! As for the tent talk that you are experiencing, it makes me fume. Those pnms who say pejorative things about the houses to other pnms really, really don't know what they are talking about. In addition I always tend to question their motivations in going through recruitment, it seems to me they're simply looking for letters and a party. My advice to you is to stay away altogether and if that's not possible, change the subject, you can always mention how hot it is or how much your feet are hurting. Okay enough of my lecturing about tent talk. Hopefulgreek you are doing so well, I'm so happy for you. Keep your heart open and you'll definitely find your place! Good luck and God Bless, violets :) |
That's right--ignore the tent talk and go where you're comfortable! Now go in there and knock 'em dead!
|
MK--we're all happy you're here at GC sharing your story with us!
Sounds like things are going well for you, you're going to see six great sororities you seem pleased with. Just like everyone else has already said, don't you dare listen to the tent-talkers. Stay true to yourself and your instincts, you're doing so well. Choose what's best for you regardless of what the other girls may think. There's no way they could know the internal operations of the sororities, it makes me think that they could be passing up the sisterhood of their lifetime by believing such things. I'm glad you're smart enough to know better! Hope you have a great time and thanks for keeping us all posted! Christin |
Best of luck to you! Keep smiling, keep an open mind, and keep updating us (of course)!
|
LOL! We laugh every year about how the talk is that we "invite everyone back." Our Nationals doesn't require us (at UF) to cut as heavily early on, and just because we invite back doesn't mean we want EVERY PNM as a sister. If the girls that were talking only knew!!! Anyway, I'm happy you are excited about your houses and know you'll have a wonderful time, even though it still feels like it's 110 degrees outside!!
Keep us posted! Tara I have a Phi Mu castle... (that appears to invite everyone back to round 2...hehehe;)) |
next big step
congratulations!! you have terrific choices with good reputations and a bright future ahead for you. get set to shine.
:D |
Sweetie-
1. Some PNMs like to ACT like they know everything about sororities. Makes them feel "special". 2. Many, MANY girls from our little corner dropped out of their sorority because they joined for the WRONG reasons. 3. GPA-yes, that could have an influence. 4. Feeder schools-heard about that too (at another university) 5. In such a competative environment, YOU ARE DOING GREAT! Like everyone has said-SCREW THE OTHER PNMs and listen to YOUR heart!:D  Did I just say that! ;) Yes, I did! |
i can't believee
yeah pi chis! They let us go if you have 2 or more lounges! I have three right off the bat... I have to leave at 7 to get to KKG and then AChiO... two great orgs!
*mk* I think it's great Phi Mu doesn't heavily cut first round! |
thanks! I'm glad you can see benefits for not cutting heavily immediately. we do...;)
tara I have a Phi Mu castle... |
You have six great options. Good luck :)

I wanted to say the same thing about Sigma Kappa. Although I cannot speak for the chapter at Florida, if they are anything like us (and I'm sure they are!) we don't cut heavily after the first round. We mostly only cut for grades, because one day isn't really enough to get to know someone. For example, someone could come across as bored or bitchy or something but this could just be because they are tired and overwhelmed by rush. I actually think it's good to hear that Phi Mu and SK give people more of a chance to get to know you. I know some houses are large and they are forced to cut great girls. But trust me, as rush goes on, SK will only invite you back because they really want you there and they see something special in you!!
Good Luck!!! |
hopefulgreek,
Good luck yet again. Can't wait to hear how KKG and AChiO were! (My aunt is an AChiO so I'm always fond of hearing about them.) PhiMuNursie & SigKapSundevil thanks for posting about the releasing pnms issue. It makes me very upset when a few competitive pnms seem to think they can "read into" the release policies of NPC orgs. I always worry about the impressionable women who listen to their nonsense and don't follow their hearts because of it...these girls are young after all! And thanks for justamom for posting her very sage advice! Okay, clearly tent-talk is a big issue for this sorority gal, I'll step down from my soap box now. Back to the subject at hand: GOOD LUCK HOPEFULGREEK!!!! KEEP POSTING I LOVE EVERY LITTLE DETAIL!!! :) |
KKG and AXO!
Heya-
KKG- didnt do the craft, a few lulls, only met one girl, but we chated mostly about high school yada yada, still like it! AXO- loved, SOOO FRIENDLY! met like three girls- didnt click too much with the first one that had my purse, but the 2nd and 3rd were awesome actually did the "craft" the girls commented on how cute it was! *mk* |
Nosy question, do all the houses there have someone hold your purse or does it very from house to house?
Good to hear that you liked Kappa and AXO, can't wait to hear what happens next!!!!! Christin |
