I'm going with Kizzie.
Later SoRHOrs and sisterfriends. ~RHOyal #1 |
Still waiting for the maturity... I guess it must start AFTER my sorors (one of whom has been corrected and apologized PROFUSELY) are called out for statements they made MONTHS AGO? If they are not the ladies who had something to say in response to your soror's (albeit thoughtless) post, why even bother?

Whatever, Man...

Now, do you have something to say about the fact that while 99.9% of those who feel the need to defend their org had nothing to say about our soror who was lost in the car wreck? At least Stillwater had class about the thing, and at least if she brought the complaints, she also came around and left a note for us when our soror died. The rest of you can keep the dumb s####. And on that note, I am off with my soRHOrs Kizzie and Rhoyal #1. :) TRSimon |

Like I said before, I am not done with this topic yet!
I did not delete it because it is a question that should be discussed. I am only 2 years old in Sigma but 38 in life. When I was in school I never met a Sigma. I was in Ohio and I saw a few at Ohio State. When I came back home to DC I HAD to do my research on all 4 out of curiousity because our organizations are a part of Black History. I don't understand for the life of me how someone can become a member of one and still don't know jack about the others. I NEVER met a Sigma lady until I sought out the grad chapters in my areas and started attending their events. Did that stop me from being interested because PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHO WE ARE? NO!! I didn't become a member to be recognized. I am recognized wherever I go because of who I am and was before Sigma Gamma Rho. I am a smart, proud, pretty lady who repRHOsents! So to answer Soror's question about "Why is that?" it helps to know our history. For any other Soror who is asking that same question, spend sometime with older Sorors -- those who have 40, 50 years in the sisterhood and still active. There is a wealth of knowledge in that "oral history" if you just listen. It's not about steppin, it's not about being recognized. This sisterhood was founded by schoolteachers and in our early years the majority of our members were teachers. Think about it, the nature of the profession calls you to be somewhat reserved, composed, conservative and not "OUT" to be seen and known. I think that this might answer the question as to why we are not as well known. DSTillmatic, most of my sorors that I know are not worried about who knows us. Like you said what matters is that those whom we serve know us. I'm done with this. (for now:)) |
Folks, let's not get ugly with each other please. Please use the PM feature. I think I am done with this now.

None of my sorors said anything about AKA that was negative in this thread. I don't think HolyGhost7 meant anything about AKA.
Some people feel the need to post on Sigma forum only when they want to say bad stuff, then plead ignorance/I don't know any Sigmas/I didn't mean any disrespect/I don't go to the Sigma forum (you came today) when they don't ever post anything decent or of class when a tragedy happens. That's hypocrisy at it's best. I guess I recognize it, too. Peace Out! -TRSimon Quote:

Observation......
Quote:
I think it's really mean and immature to assume that someone wouldn't have the decency to express compassion/extend condolences about a life lost just because they are in a particular org. People should take heed when trying to unravel the "hangups" some greeks may have towards other organizations, because that person my end up revealing their own in the process. Lastly, I've seen comments saying, "I'll just stick to my own house" or "I only like the vibe in this forum". One may feel that way because of an indicent or a person and then take that feeling against the whole org's forum. So when one doesn't visit and openly expresses their stance, then the people across the street take note and don't cross over either. So you can't indirectly say, "I really don't like you and will not be inviting towards you", but turn around and say, "why weren't you over here". Neither party is right, but what can you do? Just take it in stride and move on. |
Please PM me with any further personal criticisms.
BlueReign, I apologize for my part in the disruption of the convo. :) |

TRSimon is not going anywhere!
Because I won't let her. :D Sweetest Diva, apology accepted. It's ok. I have no ill feelings toward you. You have been "sweet" since I've seen you on GC. Keep the sweet in you! But I have to agree with my Soror TRS. I used to post all over GC, regardless of what organization it was because that is just the kind of person I am. Most of you, specifically DST and AKA don't come this way unless it is some controversy going on. |

I used to post on all 4 forums, but it ended up that I mostly post on AKA and DST because that is where I feel most comfortable. ZPB runs a close 3rd. Although I have met many very sweet ladies of SGRho on GC, I've never felt all that welcome in the forum. In reading posts from before I registered, it seems there has been some tension between orgs, and I guess that is still carrying over. I have posted fairly often on non-controversial topics over this way. Perhaps the reason nobody remembers is because I was basically ignored - it always seemed that people were talking "around" me to their sorors, if that makes sense. I'm sure it seems a little like that on every forum, but in essence, that is why I stick to where I feel more welcomed. I don't really know what could be done to mend old wounds or change the "homecourt posting" mentality, but I just wanted to shed some light as to why it seems that way sometimes. Don't want anybody thinking I'm a GC drama-chaser. Like I said, I got love for all. |

[B] Maybe this is what we need to be talking about, because I often feel the same way about our forum. I hardly ever see Zetas or SGRhos on our board, but when the earlier-mentioned "incident" happened, it straight blew up. I just charge that to the fact that word of drama spreads quick amongst GC buddies, and none of us are hesitant to defend our organizations. Not necessarily a negative thing. I use to post on all 4 forums when I first came to GC, but I ended up posting mostly on SGRHO and ZPHIB. This is where I felt most comfortable. There have been times where I felt ignored on AKA board. So I just pretty much post where I feel comfortable. I have love for all the D9! :) |
Me too!
I pretty much stick to the SGRho board when I come to GC because I basically feel ignored on other boards. Other times I just feel PLAIN unwelcomed. For example, I remember when I first decided to join GC and I went on the AKA board and posted a reply to a subject (I can't recall what it was). Anyhow, I posted my signature after my reply but I really did not think I was insulting anyone or trying to disrespect anyones board. Well, the next day I went back to that board to read the other replys and I saw that my post had been "edited" and my signature was gone. It kind of made me feel like "WTH" at first but then I got over it. I do notice though that when a lot of other groups (including some AKA's) visit our board they post their signatures. I don't see anything wrong with it but obviously someone did on their board. I respected that and now when I post (which is now every BLUE moon;) ) I do not leave a signature on the AKA board. I really just told this story to show how something so small can really blow up to make people feeel so unwelcomed and disrespected. I took it in stride but I know others may not have. I do wish that someone could have just PMed me and let me know how it was. I am not by ANY means a NEO. I think I could have taken it.:D

I concur with you sorhor Unique97 and sisterfriend Sweetest Diva. But the questions still remains as to how to change homecourt position mentality so that everyone will fill welcomed in posting to other organizations board. Another issue that I feel needs to be addressed is fostering unity in the since of having respect for one another organization in the way we deal with each other on the boards such as pm each other instead of calling out someone pubicly.
