I gotta stick with my Super Plus tampax and the super absorb. playtex portables and gentle/slick glides. I just dont think I could do O.B's. There's just something not right to me about not having an applicator. And let me just say that Super Plus could soak up a freakin ocean and you'd be ok for hours.
Like everyone has said you just have to get use to wearing tampons. One you've popped a couple of those suckers in you barely can tell they are there. I started mine when I was 11 and used a pad until I joined the swim team in HS at 14. It was actually my male swim coach who recommended what to use. Now I only use a pad if I have ran out of tampons and didnt go to the store yet.
Does any other swimmer use a pantyliner when they swim too besides a tampon?

I higly recommend the Portables too. They are awesome. Just wish they came in super plus.

Actually for those ladies that find it really uncomfortable, you may want to talk to a doctor about it:

I had a friend in middle/high school who couldn't use em and she tried every month for a year, it hurt so bad she would just cry and cry, turns out she went to the doctor and had to have a hymenectomy, where they break your hymen for you... turns out it was so close to her entry the tampon just pushed against it and stayed there. It was like having her virginity taken away without it really happening and without her hymen breaking. Talk about painful!

I'm confused. So, the tampon breaks the hymen?

Tampons can break your hymen. Doing a split can break your hymen. Horseback riding can break your hymen. Many people think that they can tell if a girl is a virgin by seeing their hymen is intact. Not so. You could've broken it at age 6! It's not at all unusual.

I started using tampons in HS when I played soccer and have never gone back to wearing pads. It really does feel like a diaper, and I don't understand how some people can wear them, escpecially if you are very active. I mean, what a way to ruin a day at the beach! I know that OB now has one out with the applicator, for those who want to try but want the applicator. I have heard a rumor (a long time agao, don't know it it's true at all) that you shouldn't use certain brands of tampons or tampons at all because they contain a chemical that actually makes us bleed more, neccesitating the use of more tampons(manufacturing trick). I heard that the 100% cotton ones are the safest.. again, just a rumor, and I'll continue to use them until a docor tells me otherwise.

OMG! When I was on hs swim team I had to frequently, I thought I was the only one. I also can't wear just a tampon (even super plus) because my flow is so heavy, I always need at least a panyliner. On the bright side carefree makes thong panyliners now, and they're less than a dollar per package!

These are great, especially for the last few lingering days.
