No shit! WTF is that all about? Why do they build 80 checkout lanes, but never have more than 4 or 5 open. Very frustrating.

I completely agree with you, if a guy only cares enough to get you a ring from Wal-Mart instead of a nice ring with that little certificate that comes with a quality diamond . . . well, then he just doesn't want to be with me enough. I know dues are exspensive but he can put a little aside! As a side note, one of my friends (dear friend, but not terribly bright) just got engaged (to a guy she's only been seeing for 6 months) and honest to goodness her ring looks like it came from Wal-Mart. If it did she doesn't know the difference and none of us have the heart to tell her.

They havent made a commercial about *my* walmart experiences! It would go something like this.

Girl in car spends 10 minutes looking for a parking space.

Girl gets in the store and proceeds to spend the next hour trying to buy 4 things. Crackers, Deoderant, a 6 pack of Cokes, and some shampoo.

After walking approximately 3.4 miles around the store - the girl has seen it all! A determined mother getting her screaming baby girl's ears pierced....A gaggle of old people gathered in the pharmacy dept complaining about the gaggle of old people in the pharmacy dept....I dont hear anyone raving about low prices or dancing in the isles.

I finally get to the register where a girl who is 9 months pregnant and has a bad home perm rings up my purchase and grumbles a "thanks"

I spend the next 10 min looking for my car because I have been inside so long I cant remember where I parked.

I guess this is why I no longer go to Walmart - we are divorced and I am now seeing a more friendly super target :)

I just heard on the news yesterday that a wal-mart in Houston is going to start selling used cars. I am just waiting for them to start selling houses that you can set up in the parking lot and just live there. If you lived in the parking lot there would be no need to go anywhere.

ZetaLuvBunny 04-24-2002 01:13 PM

hahaha! I can see it now: "Wal-Mart Realestate, Inc." ..... "Buy a parking space at Wally-Land now for your mobile home! The convienance of living next to all your shopping needs. You'll be dancing through the parking lot! And soon, we'll have a Wal-Mart Elementary, Middle School, High School, and even a Wal-Mart University for all of our community (ahem...CULT) members."

I like it

Hey! I like Walmart......sometimess. I hate to sound like one of those commercials, but there are days when I just want to go out and buy everythings that I need at one place, without having to drive to 3 or 4 different stores. I like their groceries because here, there are usually like $1-$2 cheaper than the grocery store (here its called Dillions which is the same as Krogers). Plus, I hate Dillions, so I digress.......

Now, If i had to name a preference, or let's say if I'm going out to buy just household items, I would definitely have to say that Target is my first choice. Even though I think their ready to assemble furniture is too dang high!!! $89 for a veneer bookcase!! and their plants look like death warmed over.

Do they have like a Super Target?

The store that i think it THE WORST is KMART. Even the Super KMART are hor-ri-ble!!!!!! I think KMart is a lot worse than Walmart.

As much as I hate wal-mart because the people there act like its christmas eve, and is always crowded as if for the same reason...... i double hate K-Mart. Luckily they are closing several of them here in houston!!!!

AggieAXO, i heard the same thing on the radio this morning and couldnt help but think of this thread!!!! :D

Same here! Wal-Mart can be a HUGE pain in the ar$e, but most of the K-Marts I've been to are TRASHY & smelly! I do prefer Target to either of them, except their prices are jacked-up a bit, so I try to get things at Target that I feel are better quality. As far as things like shampoo, laundry detergent, etc, I'd rather go to Wal-Mart because of the prices, though. That reminds me... one of my sisters has a bumper sticker that says something like "Don't buy CDs from Wal-Mart." lol :D

Not that I love to hear cursing or explicit lyrics in every word, but I agree with your sorority sister. Wal-Mart only sells "clean" versions of your favorite CDs.

ZetaLuvBunny 04-30-2002 01:20 PM

Oh, wait, I know what it says exactly now:

"Friends don't let friends buy CDs at Wal-Mart"

Okay I wondered what was so bad about Wal-Mart CDs, but now I understand. Oh well, that sux for adults & teens, but I know if I were a mom I wouldn't want a 12-yr-old listening to "bad" language (not as if kids don't hear enough of it at school, though).

Okay, I'm bumping this up. I watched TV for about an hour this morning and the only place I could escape the commercial with the fat heffa who feeds the entire, uniformed high school band was the Weather Channel. No lie, I saw it 5 times in that hour:mad: .

Does anybody have any witty repartee about your most recent experiences and/or thoughts about Wal-Mart?

I know this is an old thread, but I just ran across it.

BillyMac, would you mind kindly warning those of us who drink coffee in front of the computer when you are going to make a remark like that? This spit-take is going to take an hour to clean off. the screen and keyboard. =D

Much obliged. <GGG>

There's something worse than Walmart

OK, Wally World is close to the bottom of my list. Part of it for absolutely every reason listed above, part because my other half works in CPG and says that selling product to Wal-Mart makes the hazing horror stories look like Romper Room. ("Thank you, sir, may I have another?")

But there is something worse.......:::shudder:::
All of you Houstonians out there......the atrocity known as Auchan beats Walmart hands-down. We call it "The Freak Show".

Alongside the groceries are the fiberboard furniture kits, low-quality textiles, and row upon row of kids' bikes lined up at the front door. It's hard to explain, but it's *worse* than Walmart. Don't forget the food court that has been featured on Marvin Zindler's Rat and Roach Report more times than I can count.

ITA w/ the people who mentioned Walmart's predatory sales practices. (Driving local businesses under then holding the town hostage to their prices.) There isn't a state in the union that hasn't seen this phenomenon.

One kid in my class did a documentary on Bill Clinton, and of all places, the setting of the documentary was at WAL-MART!!! Basically this boy walked around a Wal-Mart in a very redneck part of the metro Nashville area, and walked up to everyone he could find (all of whom had mullets  ---even the little kids!!!), and asked their opinion on Bill Clinton. The responses of these trashy mullet-baring people were hilarious! At the beginning of the video, the boy even made a disclaimer:

"The haircuts which you are about to see are not condoned by the director of this film or by _____ High School. If you are faint of heart or under the age of 16 you should not view this film. I will not be responsible for any laughter that may occur while listening to the opinions of the Wal-Mart goers portrayed in this film." :D

I am over here CTFU @ this (never saw this thread before today:() but my God give that boy an A on his insight. :)
