That is not a La Jolla city ordinance. Nor does San Diego county nor the state of California have such a low.

That is so awesome that someone finally investigated this whole thing, instead of just believing the rumor. I hope a lot more women across the country follow suit and clear this up once and for all! YOU GO GIRLS! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
Exactly, although snopes.com did investigation as well:

Ha ha...totally!

I am thinking that the snopes thing should be mandatory reading for every rushee/PNM for registers for rush. It's an urban legend that just refuses to die!

Fraternities can't build new houses either. Any administrator or faculty member who tries to sell you a story about a "brothel law" is just trying to keep you from having a house. Go to the courthouse and tell them to show you where it's on the books.

In my town it is so old we have a brotehel law. However we have a sorority house because the lease is signed per room and that is what you pay rent for. We are the only sorority with a house. We went to town coucil and got all the paper work on the brothel law when we wanted to buy the house, got a lawyer and everything. The house is grandfathered but has to be rented out by room where technically everyone is living seperatly. IT IS A STUPID RULE
