Miss Arkansas 2015 is Loren McDaniel a Kappa Delta at the U of A.

ChioLu 07-12-2015 02:03 PM

That makes 33% of the contestants in Miss America as Greek!

How many state pageants are still left? I bet quite a few.

ChioLu 07-13-2015 01:35 PM

Actually not many. Most are already decided as it gives the title holders time to prepare for the September Miss America pageant.

According to the Miss America website, Arkansas and Puerto Rico were the last two pageants.

If there is one thing I am passionate about, it is#service. Everyday I wear my Miss America Organization pin and my Alpha Phi badge to represent my love for service and as a symbol of my future. Being a Girl Scout all my life, I know that there is no greater gift than service, and that is why I have dedicated my life to giving and will someday direct a nonprofit organization to Make the World a Better Place.

"I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout." #MissAmerica#MissKansas #BEBOLD #ThereSheIs#TheBoldInitiative

I'm glad to see that she is openly representing Panhellenic women in a positive light and what she said is so important.

I think that the way she wears her badge/pin is very cute, but to my knowledge that wouldn't be allowed in the sororities whose badge rules I've heard about. The topic casually came up I was Panhellenic Delegate, so I spoke with a few women about it and we realized that our organizations have a policy that no other pin should be worn above the badge.

I definitely don't know the policy for all 26 NPC organizations (ex. to my recollection, the Alpha Phi delegate didn't participate in the conversation about badges/badge policies) and I'm sure it's possible that exceptions can be made in special circumstances as well. Miss Kansas' strategy certainly does a good job of representing Alpha Phi and sorority women when she is out and about.

^^^ She's a beautiful young woman!

From the official Miss America Website: Danica McKellar will serve as a celebrity judge for this year's pageant. She is an Alpha Delta Pi from Alpha Chi/UCLA chapter.

Now that it's September mark your calendars for Sunday evening, September 13th for the pageant!

@Alpha_O, I was thinking the same thing. In Alpha Xi, not only is no other pin to be worn above the quill, but no other letters are to be worn above the quill. Ex: a lavaliere is technically not supposed to be worn at the same time as the quill (even if they are your own letters)

You don't know how excited I am that I finally have an APO Brother to root for this time around. :D

Bumping to ask if anyone has heard who won Tuesday Night's Preliminary Competitions...

ETA: Tonight (Tuesday) South Carolina won Lifestyle and Fitness Preliminary; Iowa won Talent Preliminary.

ETA: Wednesday Night, Florida (a member of Kappa Delta) won Lifestyle and Fitness Preliminary; Louisiana (a member of Alpha Phi) won Talent Preliminary.

ETA: Thursday Night, Iowa won Lifestyle and Fitness; Georgia won Talent.

There are no more preliminary competitions, and Iowa is the only contestant this year to win both preliminaries.

There have previously been non-crowned double preliminary winners, including 1992's Miss Iowa (she became first runner-up) so have no fear, your favorite NPC Greek Miss America 2016 contestant may yet win!

I found out Danica preffed ADPi and Chi O. (sigh)

Since their states usually do well in this pageant, I guess this year's top two will be Miss Oklahoma and Miss New York.

But upon finally locating and viewing each contestant's one minute youtube video, I like Miss Delaware...she's quite a sweetheart, speaks clearly, and her state has never won Miss America.
