Thanks a lot, the coat of arms is only 26 years old since our chapter is only 27. By the way, each of the chapters has its specific coat of arms in the chapter's colors.


Below, I added the coat of arms of my fraternity association that dates back to the mid 19th century when the first two chapters signed the aggreement to form an association: Cartell of Catholic German Fraternities (which would be the approximate equivalent of ypor nationals/internationals.

I just thought of something..

A couple years ago I was in Indy and visited a couple HQ, including Psi Upsilon's. Each of their chapters designs its own crest. They have a big meeting room (mainly for the board of directors) and the crests are hanging all around the room. It's kind of cool. Perhaps a member can shed more light on why, but it's just something that stuck out about their fraternity.

I had the opportunity to take the full tour of the SAE HQ in Evanston, IL and in their basement, painted on the ceiling, is the crest of every fraternity. I am not sure if they sororities are on there, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Of course the meaning behind the AGD crest and the ZTA crest are only told to initiated members, but I can say that there is a significance as to why she chose what she did. That is really all I can say and I surely doubt that she wrote about why in her book.
An interesting thought if you look at the TKE and AGD crests they are really kind of alike.

It seems that several of the Brothers of LXA have tried to put ours on, none of has been succesful! Try lambdachi.org, the International web site! I know that ours is more true to the Heraldry of the days of old than anyother!:)

That is truely gorgeous! I noticed the figure wears a leather helmet that looks like feudal Germany. I know the black eagle has been a German symbol for hundres of years. Do you have four colors?(red,gold,green,white). I think all American fraternities have only two colors. Congratulations, yours is an exceptionally beautiful crest.

Here's my fraternities Coat of Arms. I like ours a lot because it's a little different than others. Take it easy all.

LCA Has 3 colors, Purple, Gold, and Green.

You're right; I forgot. I think LXA adopted three colors as the result of a successsful merger early in their History. The Lambda Chis I know don't much use the purple. Their signature colors seem to be green & gold.

I went to the LXA website and noted that the image of your shield was in five parts. That may be why you're having difficulties posting. I recommend that people just go to the main site to admire it! It is very pretty (and I don't care if the boys don't like my use of the word "pretty" :P )
