I wasn't aware that "sorority pants" were an issue at other colleges. Wow. We never go clubbing w/ out the black pants. Jada DZ

I'm wondering what you all would do if you lived in West Virginia. There isn't a Bebe in the entire state. I went in one in Washington DC once, but everything was so expensive. I just couldn't justify spending so much on a piece of clothing. I have a pair of little black pants, but they came from Deb I think. They were only like 10.00 on clearance and they've lasted for 4 years without falling apart. I think that is pretty good.

I absolutely love my sorority pants! But you can go out of the house here with out having you Dove Designs jewelry on with them!
We wear them with everything... Do you guys wear dove designs too? |
i've wrecked my brains for days and please excuse the ignorance...what are sorority pants and what do they look like?

MaMa - LOL! don't feel bad for not knowing sorority pants... I am a "young alum" (late 20's) and have worked in the Greek system at my school for the last few years, and so would not have known about this fashion phenomenon either if not for that. (not that I don't know what black bootcut pants are! I have a couple pair myself, but I had never heard the term before registering at GreekChat)
The "sorority pants" that everyone is referring to are the synthetic (usually a rayon or other stretchy fabric blend) black pants, which are usually low-waisted, with a flat front and maybe (but not always) a back pocket. They are fitted through the waist, hips and thighs, and flare slightly at the ankle ("boot-cut", for the old school among us). They usually zip up, and have a very slimming look (hence the popularity). These pants are EVERYWHERE. Any store, any designer... they flatter almost any body type, especially if you are very slim, or if you have a good "booty"... the only exception is if you have a pooch (ladies, you know what I mean) and you wear a short shirt which does not cover said pooch. MaMa - I guarantee you have seen these pants and just didn't recognize them as "sorority pants". That's what everyone is referring to! |
lol . . . There was another post that asked: "Where did all the men go? They don't seem to be commenting on discussion . . ."
This discussion seems a trifle over our heads http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Personally I'm fashion challenged, and if I don't take along a lady with good taste, will likely end up looking the way the sales girl thinks I should (which can be disconcerting if I go into several very different stores). I sometimes have to ask questions like . . . You mean orange and purple don't look good together? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif A lot of time I just buy clothing with a man riding a polo horse and figure that must be reasonably acceptable . . . in yellow and magenta ofcourse http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Now personally, I like buying polo stuff, but I don't like paying 80 dollars a shirt. So I recomend factory outlets. Here is a nice web site with a list of them by region. http://www.outletsonline.com/oc.html They usually have good bargains and are worth a couple hour trip if necessary. However, shoppers can be fierce and like sharks in a feeding frenzy sometimes http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif PS. What is a pooch? James,
A 'Pooch' is a slang term for that little bit of a 'belly' that women have. Although we all hate it, and most of us won't admit it, the 'pooch' is impossible to get rid of completely--belive me--we all try. The reason women have it and men don't is becuase . . . drum roll please . . . we are different! Our bodies are made to give birth and despite the fact that some women don't, they still have that small area of fat around their belly to "insulate" that area in case of pregnancy. Soooooo in short no matter how hard we try, all woman will have at least a tiny 'pooch'. [This message has been edited by mgdzkm433 (edited September 13, 2000).] |
Okay, now I got it. I came back to america and went back to school so I see the black pants everyone is wearing. Wasn't there a topic in chit chat on conformity. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Anyway, they aren't bad and they do match everything BUT I am so not into stretchy things. What is with the fake fabric and stretchy clothes nowadays? I mean really, let's go natural. I think people have forgotten what cotton is. I have to admit, I bought myself a pair. They really do match everything and the rear side of me look quite ... nice. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

Haha I remember swearing back in HS (I'm a soph now) that I would NEVER own a pair of soror pants. Now I own...oh say....like 4 pairs of black pants in various cuts. They make EVERYONE look good. So what if people make fun of them? I love em! You can't go wrong with soror pants...they're a classic.
|
Am I the only one who has never HEARD of these "sorority pants???"
|
Ok I have to admit, I have three pairs. I wear them so much that I actually had to replace a pair last weekend because I ripped the crotch when I was dancing. No sick comments please!!! My sorority likes to call them hootchie pants.
|
Oh man! I can't believe there has been 2 pages of posts on "black pants" Even though I do have 2 pair, I used to have 3 but one pair got to short after I washed them. I've never heard them called any other names-"sorority pants, bitch pants, fuck me pants" well I just always thought they were black pants that everyone owned! Guess I just never put that much thought into it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
