Today is Philanthropy Day. The weather is beautiful (unseasonably cool- so the PNMs aren't dripping with sweat this year- which is nice for EVERYONE :)
Recruitment is officially half over :( |
Yay for Mizzou! Thank you for the update tigerivy!

Today is tough. It's philanthropy day, and I understand that it gets pretty emotional at some houses. There was a car accident in St. Louis last night in which three teenagers were killed. A lot of PNMs and active sisters knew them, so there are some girls who are really devastated today. Prayers for the families involved, and hugs to all the PNMs and actives who are hurting.

Bumping to see if anyone has updates for bid day?
|
Bid day events start in about an hour and a half. My daughter and her best friend are both PNMs at Mizzou this year. I'm excited to see where they land. My girl was very impressed with all the chapters. It made it very difficult to choose favorites and back ups after each round.

Alpha Phi
Facebook is showing Alpha Phi with 85!!!!
|
Chi Omega has a new member class of 83. My alumna friend did not know quota at this time.
|
I believe quota was 80. I love all of our new Alphas!
|
Quota was definitely 80. 14 of 15 houses met quota, which is an improvement from last year. I'm going through some pics and will post a couple after a bit. :)
|
Wow. Started with 1765 and ended with quota of 80. Am I correct to say that means they lost a lot of PNMs during recruitment week? Is that a typical drop rate?
|
Last year 70% of the open house pool were matched (received bids) at the end of the week. This year it was 71%. The vast majority of those who didn't end up with a bid are those who voluntarily withdrew at some point during the week.
|
I (obviously incorrectly) guessed that last year's 70% match rate was a bit low due to Sigma Kappa coming back to the campus. So, I'm surprised such a high number withdrew this year.
If the girls are dropping because they aren't happy with the chapters left on their schedules, I think it's a shame. My daughter was so impressed with all of the chapters. She had different favorites every day and had a hard time deciding which chapters to rank as back ups after each round. Early on, she realized she could be happy in most (if not all) of the chapters at Mizzou. Anyway, she had a great week, thoroughly enjoyed (and was exhausted by) the process and is now a very happy new member of Alpha Delta Pi. One of her best friends (the only other person she knew who was heading to Mizzou) went Chi Omega and her roomie went Alpha Chi Omega. Thanks to all of the helpful Greek Chatters! I've been lurking for a couple of years now and learned a lot about how recruitment had changed since I went through it almost 30 years ago. My daughter had a full schedule every day. And, I'm confident the tips we picked up from Greek Chat helped make that happen. |
Congrats to your daughter and her friends!!
It is a shame that girls drop because they aren't happy with their schedules, as it is a very strong greek system and every chapter has something special to offer. In 2011 74% of OHP was matched, so this year might be a tad bit low for a non-expansion year. I took a few random pics of a couple houses before bid day started, and snapped a few on the quad. Pics to follow. :) |
Some of the houses earlier in the morning
