These books are written for teens in mind by a teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio but they need to be bought to the big screen and SOON:

Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper
Forged By Fire by Sharon Draper

She has 2 others but those 2 are the more well known. Yes she is a BLACK author. I HIGHLY UNEQUIVOCALLY recommend them to anyone with teens or works with teens.

My Picks.....

I love to read and I've read so much that the books have begun to run together but if I had to choose they would be

1. The coldest winter ever (I read somewhere that they're working on this)

2. God don't like ugly

3. Tumbling

4. Bailey's Cafe (Gloria Naylor)

5. Family (J. California Cooper)

6. In the light of my father's smile (Alice Walker)

7. The living is Easy (Dorothy West)

8. Mama (Terry McMillian)

9. ANYTHING BY E. LYNN HARRIS!!!!!!!!

DOESN'T EVERYTHING STOP WITH #9!!!!!!!!!!!

Definately The Coldest Winter Ever!! What about Sonny off of General Hospital, He's Used to that kind of role LOL. I like Jada as Winter, shed be able to carry the attitude. I know she's older now, but she still looks young, and you know the miracles they can work with make-up. I'd also like to see Coffee Will Make You Black and Ain't Gonna Be The Same Fool Twice, by April Sinclair, I love those two books. Also,

-Flyy Girl and/or For the Love of Money
-Oh and Mama is NEVER gonna be made, when Terry McMillan was on Oprah, she said she'd never do it, its too close to her, but I'd LOVE to see that as a movie!
-A real Disappearing Acts
-Cheaters by EJD

I'd have to say:

Scenes from a Sistah-Lolita Files and One Better- Rosalyn McMillan

And since I'm such a Dean Koontz fan I'll add The Bad Place to my list.

That was truly not my intention to prove a point about doing a serach. I got to thinking about some more books that should become movies. :)

Weeeelll, that makes me feel that much better, LOL. But I did hear that "The Coldest Winter Ever" was in the works...I will have to try to find some back-up for that.

Update

Sup Peeps,

I decided to do more of an informative post than the previous one.

Omar Tyree - Just emailed me.
There is a casting call for the upcoming independent film, "Move The Crowd" which he wrote the screen play for and will produce.

E Lynn Harris - My sources told me that ShowTime still have the rights to Invinsible Life & Just As I Am. To my knowledge, they have not done any production work with that yet. I do know that he has been working on a few screenplays, including one for Sparkle, which was supposed to start Aaliyah before her untimely death.

Eric Jerome Dickey - Friends & Lovers has been option, but I am still trying to find out from who.

Sistah Souljah - The Coldest Winter Ever should go into production later this year.

Michael Baisden - Men Cry in the Dark & Maintenance Man theatric plays currently touring the country.

Thats all I have for now. Brothas N 2 Books Online Book Club will be updating its website very soon and I should be getting more stuff in then.

As far as book I would like to see as movies...

A Day Late & A Dollar Short - Even though Terry has been reported as saying that she won't make this into a movie either, I still would like to see it.

Just Say No - Omar Tyree
The Sex Chronicles - Zane
Milk In My Coffee - Eric Jerome Dickey
No Disrespect - Sistah Souljah

Disney to adapt Judy Blume books
‘Deenie’ and ‘Are You There God...’ get the big-screen treatment

Updated: 6:33 p.m. ET March 09, 2004
LOS ANGELES - The Walt Disney Co., author Judy Blume and independent producer Jane Startz have agreed to make movies based on Blume’s hit kids books like “Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret,” Disney said Tuesday.

First on the development list will be “Deenie,” about a young teenage girl seeking to define herself beyond the wishes of her parents.

Financial details of the deal were undisclosed.

“The name Judy Blume is synonymous with great young adult literature. Everyone discovers her books in fifth grade and grows up with her — she strikes a chord with humor and heart while never preaching,” Nina Jacobson, president of Disney’s Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group, said in a statement.

Blume’s books have sold over 75 million copies in 26 languages worldwide. Six of her titles are among the top ten all-time, best-selling children’s books.

Startz’s producer credits include the upcoming “Ella Enchanted” for Disney unit, Miramax Films, “Tuck Everlasting” for Walt Disney Pictures and “The Mighty” for Miramax.

The deal is the second high-profile series of books Disney has signed up as source material for movies after it and movie maker Pixar Animation Studios Inc. failed to strike a deal to make more films when their current contract expires.

Last week, Disney agreed to co-finance and distribute “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” which will be based on the series of “Narnia” books from author C.S. Lewis. Those books, the first of which was published in 1950, have sold over 85 million copies around the globe.

Disney’s deal with Pixar had been highly lucrative for the company and had produced blockbusters like “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.”

Disney’s management, including Chief Executive Michael Eisner, have been criticized for being unable to strike a new deal with Pixar.
