I don't know anything about AI (as I pointed out) -- just noticed that there is a GC forum available for this purpose (I wasn't aware of AI prior to noticing the forum, actually).

Yeah, different organizations feel differently about it and the general consensus on GC is that Alumnae Initiation (AI) is an honor bestowed on women not something to be advertised by us to women who just didn't get to join a sorority in college. You want to see a huge war, just start an AI discussion. LOL.

Look, it's pretty clear that you want to do this, so do it. We aren't going to tell you not to try. Just be aware that your options may be extremely limited or non-existent. There is a good chance you will receive no invitations. There is also a good chance that you will receive invitations from only the weakest recruiting group. But you won't know until you try, and from what you've said here, it sounds you will regret it if you dont.

Oh yes! I'm going to give it a try and that's what counts......right? It would hurt me more if I didn't try and always had that regret of I could of, would of, should of. I just wanted to know if I had a chance of joining, since I'm older and it seems like a split decision from on this forum to private messaging. I know what I can look out for or I shall say, expect for the most part. The only other message I can say is that the women of the houses won't have to worry about me being a huge party girl and trying to mess around with the associated Frat guys. I don't mind doing events aka parties but I know that my education comes first and second comes my Sorority and if my grades drop it looks horrible on my transcript, can eventually get me kicked out of the Sorority and the University too. Being accepted alone to my school has been a dream come true, so I won't screw this up.

No. You just have to be a full time student at the school where the chapter is located - for NPC groups. Individual groups may have other requirements but NPC does not.

Pet peeve: could have, would have, should have. In spoken language it's pronounced could've and the "ve" is perceived as "of" because the "f" and "v" sounds are voiceless/voiced cognates. I won't get into the whole discussion around I'd've because that would open up another can of worms.

minimum age? depends upon each sorority's constitution/bylaws. No universal age. ETA: thanks Titchou.

Eats, Shoots and Leaves should be required reading, along side the AP Style Book and Elements of Style, all 3 of which I haven't read in ages.

My current biggest peeve is using which or that instead of who. The people that did... should be the people WHO. My second biggest peeve is the ridiculous overuse of the word unique. And now I will retreat to my corner.

I share that pet peeve. Shakespeare and the translators of the King James Version, however, disagree with us. :D

And while we're on those pet peeves, which and that are not interchangeable, and one of my pet peeves is using "which" when "that" should be used.
