Looking forward to the rest!
Jo left Rd. 2 hoping that Soccer and Kayaking would be on her list for Rd 3. Although she was still open to Flag Football and Lacrosse, they just weren't her top picks.
When Rd 3 invites came out, Jo was invited back to Soccer and Kayaking, Putt Putt and Lacrosse. She enjoyed this round of parties which was a bit longer.
Soccer - Still her favorite group, really felt like she clicked with the girls here today. Kayaking - Still likes this group and is torn between it and soccer, although she thinks she feels more comfortable at soccer. Lacrosse - Liked this group fairly well the first two rounds, but found the party today painful. Too much time spent with one sister rushing, and too many lulls in the conversation. Putt Putt - Still finds them nice and intersting, but not a top pick. |
Jo was very nervous about the fact that she would only have two pref parties, and worried that it would not be the two she wanted. Looking around during third round she realized for the first time that many girls had only 1 or 2 parties, and that others had dropped out. Until now the process had been fun, but she suddenly realized that she really wanted to be a part of a sorority, and she wanted it to be one that felt right to her.
On the first several days I found out where Jo was going via text. On the day of prefs the magic time came and went with no text, and instead there was a phone call. Soccer, her favorite group was still on her list, along with Lacrosse. She was sad to lose kayaking, and a bit confused about how she felt. After Rd 3 she felt that she would only accept bids from Soccer or Kayaking, but now she wasn't so sure. She decided to go to the pref parties and then make a decision about what to do.
It was no surprise to Jo that she loved the Soccer party. She had heard many people say that you would know when it was the right fit, but hadn't really believed it. At the pref party she knew it was true - soccer was where she really wanted to be, which kind of scared her. However, she also found the Lacrosse party to be better than Rd 3 had been. The sister who took her around was a senior, and she felt like she clicked with this girl more than she had any of the previous sisters of Lacrosse. She decided to list both sororities and see what bid day would bring.

Waiting for bid day!
Bid day coincided with move in day for the rest of the campus, which made navigating the campus much harder than it had been. But, when bids finally came out at hour later than planned, Jo was delighted to learn that she would be a member of soccer, otherwise known as Alpha Omicron Pi!

Ironically, when daughter 1 went through recruitment AOPi was one of her top picks - the only house that I worried she might pick over her legacy house!
