I am loving this thread otherwise. |

Guess only some people are allowed to make snarky comments, duly noted. |

The Lower Standards Theorem: Any woman who gets released from formal recruitment and/or drops out because she didn't like the options she had left will think she is the most desirable PNM in informal recruitment and have chapters clamoring for her that released her the first time.
Colony Corollary: Any woman who has an unfavorable formal recruitment will consider herself a shoe-in for a new colonization. |
ALL OF THIS!! This post needs to be stickied!!
And BraveMarroon, I'm sad to say I'm guilty of The Glitch Corollary. I swore up and down for days, even weeks after rush that my number one house dropped me on philanthropy accidentally lol. |
The Indiana Effect: Moms and PNM's will flock to GC after IU recruitment as though we old biddies around here can do anything about it.

The Law of Winter Recruitment - if you act like an idiot as a first semester freshman, you're going to have a tough time during winter recruitment.
Why, yes, the chapters are aware of your drunk binges, your drug use, the 15 fraternity guys that you slept with, and the fact that you called a chapter member "a stupid bitch." |
Murphy's Law of Taking Grade Risks states that Grade Risk Girl You Take Because OMG YOU LOVE HER will NOT have better grades after she gets a bid.
She typically does not meet the GPA to get initiated. If she does, she BARELY scrapes it, gets initiated, then ends up being sent to Honor Council/Standards for grades by the end of her first year. Then she drops out of school entirely. If she does not drop out of school, she spends her entire sophomore year on probation for grades and quits because she "can't like, go to socials and stuff." |
Let me take a crack at this.
The Old Biddy Corollary: The nicer, more well reasoned a post on THAT site the more likely the poster is an old biddy pretending to be a college student. The old biddy should mind her own old business, quit pretending to be a college student, and stay on GC where she belongs with all the other old biddies. On the other hand if an old biddy says something a PNM or mom doesn't agree with on GC then she's just mean. |
The Administrivial Effect: Any time GC'ers don't like the way a chapter or CPH does recruitment, someone will suggest writing to the president of the university.
Corrolary: That person doesn't give a ****. |
I have a new one Transformania -
When a PNM has the sincere belief that because they want to be Greek and they want to go to a particular university, that the Greek system will change to become the kind of Greek system they want (build houses or become more open to upperclassmen) rather than they should use that as a reason to consider other schools |
