We didn't have cable when I was in college. My first video was at a bar on Ohio State's campus called Crazy Mama's. It was a punk/new wave bar and yes, it was legal to drink beer at 18. There was only one sorority house that I recall having cable (and MTV) and I remember many of the actives brought it up during rush.

I actually attended a party for the very first viewing of MTV. I believe the first video was...Video Killed the Radio Star! Back then we watched videos from Europe because the American bands had not started making videos. When you saw an American band, it was usually a concert performance. Loved Martha Quinn!!! |

I'm a little younger than some of you. Pretty sure my first video was either LL Cool J's "I'm Bad" or MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This."
I'm too young to remember life without MTV, but I DID grow up in the era in which it played videos. I was a huge fan of Yo MTV Raps! I was sad when they took it off the air. |
