That's got to be a record. I know UA set the record last year for the largest pledge classes in the country (100+).

Its too bad that even though there might be a need for expansion, there are too many barriers for success of it.

[QUOTE=28StGreek;2077167] These schools must be in a very, very, very small percentage of the NPC community.[QUOTE]
From a friend who is administration at a smaller state university, school enrollment numbers are up all over the country, thanks to the economy. Few jobs = stay in school.

Yesterday I heard it was just under 1,500. Don't know an exact #, though.

Univ. of Alabama has already announced they want to add 2 more sororities after Delta Gamma colonizes later this month. I'm thinking it may not happen until the 4 new sorority houses get close to being completed, which will be about a year away.

Ole Miss hasn't closed registration yet to my knowledge (I think it closes September 19). But I know the Recruitment Chairmen on campus were told to expect larger numbers this year. Apparently, enrollment is up and the freshmen class is the biggest one yet. It is my understanding the recruitment chairmen were told to plan for 100 new members on Bid Day.

Official number from the Kansas State Recruitment Facebook page: 759. Largest in history for K-State. Actives go back today, parties start on Sunday August 14th.

I heard Iowa has record registration going too, but I think they might have a short memory. In the 80's the chapters were bigger than they are today and there were 2 more chapters than now. I think something like 800 girls went through rush versus something like 600 recently. But in the recent past anyway, numbers are up at Iowa!

FSU posted they're at 1300, a record for the school

ComradesTrue 08-12-2011 03:18 PM

Alabama Panhellenic (@UAGreekAffairs) just posted on t_witter that there are 1737 PNMs signed up this year.

OleMissGlitter 08-12-2011 04:16 PM

U of TN-Knoxville: 816 signed up....I can't remember how many they had last year.

ggforever 08-12-2011 04:43 PM

UF does not close until next week. Recruitment begins on Thursday morning, so I am guessing it would close Wednesday night. Close to 1100 right now.

kaeb 08-13-2011 03:56 PM

I know USC (Southern Cal) is expecting higher numbers than last year. I don't recall what the numbers for last year were, but I think around 1,000?

kbelle 08-13-2011 07:25 PM

My school's final numbers just got published. 1300ish pnms, including me! (Still not saying the school, just in case.) To me, that number is pretty intimidating.

Football Fan 08-13-2011 07:33 PM

kaeb,

From what I understand there are fewer expected than last year. According to my records the final number of registered pnms was 936 for the 2010 August recruitment.

In that year there were about 1535 women in the freshmen class. Females outnumbered males by 10%.

ComradesTrue 08-13-2011 08:22 PM

Official number at TCU is 802.

That may not sound like much compared to some of the SEC numbers, except that the typical entire freshman class (males and females) is only around 1800. Quota is expected to be around 60. For the size of the houses, quota works best around 40.

Good thing that 4 groups have been invited to present this fall. Looks like they will need at least 2 of them, if not more!
