Sending you a PM in a few... :) |
Thank you so so much AnotherKD! No she's definitely not a sucker. She is very helpful, unlike you IrishLake. AnotherKD, do you think it's important to have letters for every sorority if im going to a SEC school?
|
This is the first thread that shows up at the top under sorority recruitment. Last one I'm doing for you. But yes, no SEC school will look at you if you do not have a rec letter. It's not just helpful- it's required.

Mackenzie,
When you entered the site using greekchat.com, did you happen to click on the oval at the top of the page with the Greekchat logo? If not, click that and the conversations will be broken down by categories. Click on Sorority Recruitment and you will then find a zillion topics answering all the questions you need regarding recommendations. Do not read only those for your school, but all the schools and there is a ton of good advise as to how to go about getting recommendations. After you read all of those and begin working on securing your recommendations, come back and we will then answer your questions that may arise during the process. I am one of those people who went through rush long before the advent of the internet, I had no Greek family members, I knew no one who was Greek and yet I managed to go through rush, obtain a bid back in the days when I used to ride my pet dinosaur to class instead of using a bike and go on to become a very active alumna. Good luck. |
@IL: Not hard to do! (totally joking, of course) ;)

Good luck with that SEC recruitment. |
This really isn't specific to the OP, but it just kills me that people under 21 anymore are convinced that you can do/achieve ANYTHING on the internet if you have the right link or webpage. Real world and physical things are superfluous.
Remember the Sandra Bullock movie "The Net" back in the day? I remember watching her order a pizza through the computer during the opening sequence and thinking how totally amazing that would be if you could do that in real life. And then I went outside and rode my bike til the streetlights came on. *sigh* Someone get me a lemonade and a rocking chair. |

Mackenzie,
Not to toot my own horn, but the General Advice thread in Sorority Recruitment has all the info you need on sorority recs, too. Yes, get them for each chapter. Email all relatives and friends and post on FB, Twitter, etc., that you are rushing at XYZ University in the fall and looking for recs. You'd be surprised at what connections you do have. Also, as mentioned, look at contacting the alumnae panhellenics in your hometown (or metro area) for assistance. If you are rushing at a school that is in the SEC, you will need recs for each chapter. Good luck. |
