"Jackass."

I generally like "Jackass" shows and movies when in moderation because I like the people and often find them funny. However, I really think the "Jackass" franchise will get less love because of this. I know that time heals wounds and people tend to quickly forget about tough lessons. But, I think the careless and dangerous antics have officially expired. The other dumb stuff they do, such as drinking horse semen, may still get some viewers.

No charges against bar in Ryan Dunn death

Police officials said there will be no charges against Barnaby's of America in West Chester, Pa. because "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn did not appear intoxicated during the time he was served two beers and six shots from bar employees over four hours.

Feel horrible for the passenger. I needed to edit. I meant him hitting an innocent.
I don't feel that bad for the passenger, only his family. He's innocent in the sense that he wasn't hurting anyone else. He's not innocent when it comes to his own death. He invited it by getting into a car with a drinking driver.

But that's where there is a fine line.... if you are drunk yourself (for example- I am not saying the passenger was, but am saying for sake of argument), and you are told repeatedly by your friend that they are okay to drive, and even sober people said that the person driving looked okay to them... isn't that being somewhat responsible in not driving yourself? What if he was so drunk that he really thought his friend was ok to drive? Whose responsibility is it then?

Darwin.

No. If I know injecting heroin is really dangerous, so I snort it instead, I'm not being "somewhat responsible."

His own. Don't get so drunk that it looks like a good idea to throw your life away. 12-year-olds nowadays know that how drunk the person appears doesn't matter.

My point is that he was more than likely intoxicated. Now, I am one for personal responsibility but his decision-making skills were obviously impaired. And your comment about heroin is not relevant at all and makes no sense in regards to this discussion.

I am a huge believer in personal responsibility, and agree that the bar should not be charged. However, who on earth judges someone to be OK to drive after that much alcohol?? Apparently whoever said he didn't seem too intoxicated didn't actually know those numbers. I don't care how "OK" someone looks after that much alcohol in one night, you cannot say they are OK to drive. Something to keep in mind if it were your friend in that situation...seeming sober is not the same as actually being sober. Keep track of your drinks, and keep an eye on your friends.

I know alcohol affects people differently, but how drunk do you have to be to not notice your friend has had even a single drink??

Absolutely.

Basically.

While I am really sad at lives lost.....my grandfather was hit by a drunk driver. I'm a little more touchy about this subject than many so I am always more angry than sad at stories like these. I'm sure he was a good man, even a great man, but one poor decision can do so much.

That's just it- we don't know. We don't know how drunk he was, or if he was at all. Yes, maybe poor judgement, but he's not the one that drove, and while he is somewhat culpable for his own death in choosing to get into a car with a drunk person (however much his judgement was affected by a substance), I don't see how there is more reason to hate on him rather than the person that *actually* drove drunk and had a history of driving drunk.

I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk and/or buzzed driving. Too many people that I know have had their lives shattered by people like that, even when it's "Trust me officer, I've only had 2 beers."

Parents of the passenger sue Ryan Dunn's estate and the bar.

Rest in peace but Dunn (and maybe the passenger encouraged it) was definitely a jackass. It pisses me off. I think that marked the end of the "Jackass" genre.
