Boooo!
I only saw like 5 minutes towards the end. The parts I did see, I was totally upset. How in the world did folks spend all that money to watch his "mummy" looking buttocks LIP SYNC? From what I saw on the news, the part where he was up there with his brothers, he could have actually sang live.
Like I said, I didn't see all of it, but what I did see, I was T-totally upset. He still has the moves for a 40-something entertainer, but c'mon, can you SING for us? I'm sorry I didn't see what you all saw. What did Monica sing? Don't get me wrong, Mike is THA MAN. I plan on getting the new CD this weekend, but still... you've been gone for soooooooooooo long, aw well... |
He didn't lip synch. I watched the whole thing, and I saw him repeatedly singing into his mike, holding it so that it would pick up his sound. I know he sang with his bros because he was TOO irritated with that whole OPP thing- not choreographed in there, and somehow I HIGHLY doubt that the brothers mikes would be on, and his wouldn't....

When lip synching, yes your mic is to your mouth AS IF you are singing. Normally, in LIVE performances, there is a difference in sound. For instance, when he did Black or White, there was a significant DIFFERENCE in how Michael sounded AND how the guy sounded doing the "rap". The goy performing the "rap" sounded LIVE.
Also, with concerts, why didn't he (from what I saw) ask for audience participation? He continued the songs, there were not ANY interruptions, so to speak. Everything, was "choreographed" for the lack of a better word. What I heard were tracks being played in the background. Yes, he did have a band/orchestra overhead. And....? I don't know, maybe, I'm use to people like Sade, Maze, Jill Scott, Kelly Price, The O'jays, Patti, and others giving me a performance WITHOUT lip synching at a concert. With them, you can TELL without a doubt that they are NOT lip synching. Just because a person stands in front of a crowd, with a mic in his or her hand, and a band "playing" instruments, does not mean that they are actually singing. I didn't see ALL of it, but what I did see, he WAS lip synching. Even if he wasn't ENTIRELY lip synching, he should have had a BETTER sound engineer/technician, because it (the sound) was WACK for ALL the money people had to spend on those tickets! IMO! |
Who's Bad? Michael!!!!
The ratings are in...
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast Affiliate Ratings for Nov. 13, 2001 Michael Jackson and CBS had no problem on Tuesday night slamming the competition with a 14.4 rating/ 22 share in the nightly ratings. NBC was a distant second, 9.4/14, followed by ABC's 7.2/11. FOX managed a 5.5/8, while The WB saw a 5.1/7. UPN rounded out the nets with a 3.5/5. Among adults 18-49, CBS also dominated the night with an 8.7/21, followed by NBC's 5.9/14, FOX's 4.6/11 and ABC's 3.7/9. Even the 200th episode of "Frasier" couldn't compete with Michael Jackson, as the Gloved One dominated all nets from 9-11 p.m. The race was closed in the first half-hour, when the Michael Jackson special scored a 13.3/19 to "Frasier's" 12.4/18, but in viewers it was never close. Michael's moves aren't the same. Half of the time he just walked back and forth. But what can I expect, he's like what...43 years old? Butterflies is still the isht though. No matter what, Michael is still an icon and he is worthy of the recognition. Who in the hell told Rah Digga to come out rapping like a dude? She messed up the entire song. Her voice reminds me of the transvestites on Jerry Springer that try to convice us they are really women. Whitney Houston----a hot mess. Her voice doesn't seem as strong. I was watching Inside Edition and one of the producers said Whitney looked so frail, they had to edit her performance to catch better shots of her. We all see what Whitney has become, no matter what camera angle they give her. Brittney Spears performed, but her performance was cut due to her contract with HBO. Little Billy tore Ben up. I've never heard of him, but he did a great job. I enjoyed James Ingram. I don't think Gloria Estevan can sing so I could have done without her. Lisa Minneli----I definitely could have done without her, my goodness. Between her and Liz Taylor's purple feather boa, I was tooooo through! Luther and Usher performance....well done......who were their background singers? 98 what? I was hoping Janet would make an appearance, but overall it was a good show. |
MJJ In Concert
Well, you all basically commented on everything I would have...While I was watching this all I could think about was "Mom--PLEASE shut up, you're ruining the songs!!!" and "I KNOW my GC Fam is already talking about this..."
Idon't care waht anyone says, Mike IS STILL THE BIGGETY BOMB BAY!!!!!! He's 43 and can still put on a great show...As far as his lyp-synching (sp?) goes, I expected him to start WELL before he did (shoot, at 20 years old I get tired walking on my campus for 20 minutes)... I wanted to cry looking at Whitney...she DEFINATELY looks waaaaayyyy worse than she did on the BET Awards (and on there she looked bad!!!)... Tamia looked beautiful!!!! Monica looked like a broke down hooker--and what was up with the hair?! SOOOO disappointing... Deborah Cox looked like "Gumby", even though she can blow... Rah Digga: Who did her hair, who picked out her clothes...My Mom was like "WHHHYYY are you on the stage?" She served no purpose other than looking horribly tacky and ruining a good song... I wanted to see more of N'Sync... I thought Shaggy was attempting to pay tribute to Mike w/the Swiveling Hips... I peeped Chris Tucker getting his groove on with the wrong foot... Why did my Mother say that Mike likes Usher b/c he reminds her of his pet monkey at home???!!! LMAO!!!! You can definately tell Usher worships Mike, copying ALL MJ's moves in his (Usher's) videos... |
I saw when Usher bumped into Mike too! LOL!
Also, was it just me, or did Luther shut Usher up? It was like they were having a sing off, then Luther did that "thing" that he does and Usher went back to singing back up with whoever that group was. I wonder if they had conflicts over the costumes, i.e. "Now Jermaine, only Michael is going to wear white..." Jermaine's outfit looked like he was trying to upstage Mike. Michael looked scary, but it juts goes to show: money can't buy happiness. I always thought he was trying to look like Liz Taylor. I loved Destiny Child's performance. I know alot of people hate them, but I think they're baaad (**good**). The Billy Jean thing was kind of tight that they did. MJ's Billy Jean performance was nice. People in the audience were just acting a FOOL! Hyperventilating, screaming; Old black men were among the afore mentioned people. I was like "Whoa". I heard tickets sold for about a grand a piece. Over all, it was a nice show. I'd love to see them reunite with all of the Jacksons (the sisters too). I missed the part with Whitney. I thought they'd edited her out. |
