Great story!

If it's any consolation, as a rusher, I haaaaated meeting the girls (like Chuck Norris) who treated it as a blood sport. It always felt like they were trying to rush me - and that was annoying.

If she's that polished/practiced, she may come of as being a little fake, and if it's me, I'd rather have a real conversation with someone who maybe forgets the name of a Dave Matthews song.

The other consolation is that it's unlikely you'll have the same schedule as Uber-Rushee after the first round. Don't cry too hard!

Love this story - really funny and informative.

I also commented that with 800 girls going through there was a good chance that most of us would return to less than 7 houses. Most people seemed to agree with this statement.

I'm just going to hijack for a minute, to point out that this isn't exactly true. Now, different schools do different things with release figures so I won't speak in absolutes, but generally, more girls going through recruitment means that each chapter can invite more girls back each round. Chapters can always choose to invite fewer girls, but they want to maximize their options just as the PNM's do.

Again, I know nothing about OR specifically, but if they follow the NPC recommendations, more girls does not mean more competition for a few spots in chapters, it means more spots in chapters.

I'm LOVING your attitude. The Chuck Norris thing is so funny I about can't stand it. And regarding the talkers, do they realize that the girls are inside looking out? They can SEE what's going on at the sidewalk.

Yeah - Chuck Norris is the girl everyone loves during rush, then she is a total pain in the a@# as a new member, thinks that the chapter is lucky to have her princess self, contributes nothing, just wants to sport the letters, resigns as a senior because she is "so over it".

Change that to "resigns at the beginning of sophomore year" and you've got it spot on.

Your recruitment story is like chocolate cake to me. With cream cheese frosting. *bliss*

More, please. :)

No you are correct. In fact in the presentations this was mentioned and her Rho Gammas should have told her this as well. Some chapters on campus had 90 girls per event on day 3. It was ridiculous.

Where'd she goooo???!!!

aephi alum 10-20-2010 05:06 PM

Usually, when a PNM disappears, it means either (a) she was disappointed in the outcome (she was released, or she got a bid to her last choice after debating whether to list them on her pref card or suicide), or (b) she is so swept up in bonding with her new sisters, enjoying her new member period, and getting through the craziness of the first semester at college that she hasn't had a chance to come back and update. (I don't know Oregon's schedule - perhaps it's midterm time?) Given that she posted about round 1 after prefs and bid day, I'm going to assume the latter. I do hope she pops in to update us, though, even if it's just to say where she went.

So so sorry everyone! It is in fact midterm season and on top of the raucous celebrations that ensue when your school suddenly has the number one football team in the country I've been a little all over the place! I promise to get this all finished up soon!

For a hot second I was confused because I thought Ohio State was number one. But then I remembered they lost (how I could have forgotten seeing as BF goes there and is a huge sports freak, I'll never know). Anyways continue on in your celebrations as the number one team :D
