Thanks everyone :) Yeah, I mean...it sucks, most of the time I just think I look DISGUSTING, but every once in a while I smile at myself and then start crying thinking, "why do you hate yourself so much, you know you're beautiful!" LOL but I just wish I had more days like that. :D I guess it's the little devil on my shoulder telling me that I'm ugly , and the angel just forgets to show up a lot . Hmm...or maybe that's my mother talking in my head :D I guess I just feel so worn out lately that I haven't made much time to dress up or wear makeup (especially at my 8-o'clock classes), and so I just don't give a crap about how I look sometimes...but that's awful. I dunno...I'm crazy. :D I know I really can't be too ugly if I was chosen to be a model through a search thingy and had a portfolio of pictures taken. It's so nice when people do your makeup and hair for you...but it's rare (like prom, formals, and pictures I guess).

Hey, you posted your picture on that other thread right? I think you're perfectly adorable. Also, I think something important to remember is that sometimes a big part of looks is presentation. Seriously, we've all seen those girls who aren't genetically perfect with flawless features but their hair is cut, styled and colored perfectly, make-up applied artfully, dressed stylishly. Then there are those girls who look like they really have something but aren't doing much with it. The main thing that first group of girls manage to do is carry themselves with such confidence and poise that you can't help but notice them. Pretty much everyone is telling you the same thing but it's so true... It's all about how you carry yourself!!

 I don't remember posting a picture on here anywhere. Oh, well...
Last night I tried that thing that Killarney Rose said---I braided my hair loosely upisde-down and went to bed like that. This morning I took my hair out of the braids and it was cute and wavy. Then I wore a skirt , nice top, cute shoes, and my pledge pin. I think I impressed one of my guy friends who's in my history class LOL. He's okay looking, but not really. He's a sweetheart though, and he's like extremely shy, so even if he did like me as more than a friend he wouldn't show it probably.

Whatever you do, never ever put your hair in a bun or ponytail when it's wet. It stresses and breaks your hair!

Next, be sure you don't over condition your hair, which will actually take away body. Switch to the purest shampoo and conditioner you can afford, the less crap (pardon the language) in your haircare products, the less things to weigh your hair down. At the very least, use Neutrogena shampoo and conditioner at least one week each month to remove residue. Also look into the gels and other styling aids you use. As I've gotten older, I've realized that if you have a good haircut you don't need all those mousses, gels, sprays, etc. the way you used to.

Lastly, analyze your diet which does have an affect on your hair growth. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay away from fried foods and, although I'm going to sound like a mom, eat your veggies! Hair is dead cell matter, but the higher quality cells make higher quality hair! There was an article in Vegetarian Times a few months ago that talked about the importance of diet on your hair and skin appearance.

I have been a vegetarian for 3 years + 6mo. :D I also take vitamin supplements daily to assure that I get enough protein.

What vitamins do you take daily that have protein? Are they some sort of soy supplement? Also make sure you are getting the right combination of iron, since you don't eat meat you're not getting heme iron, which is the most absorbable kind.

We are evolving veggies - we try to limit meat consumption to only once or twice each week and eat no red meat, pork or shellfish.

ZetaLuvBunny 11-06-2001 05:44 PM

I just stopped eating meat all at once when I was 15. I don't eat beef, pork, poultry, or seafood (I've always hated seafood anyway). I do eat eggs on a biscuit about four times a year, if even that, and I drink milk in cereal only. I eat cheese, but I know I shouldn't cuz it's so fattening. Don't worry, I get all of my vitamins.

My mom's a health freak, so she makes me take these multi vitamins that have every single vitamin I could need in the exact amount I need for every day. They're made specifically for young adult females, too, so you know I'm getting exactly what I need. I also take, in addition to the multi-vitamins, Echinacia, extra Vitamin C, and extra Calcium and Magnesium. :D

Oops! :o Think I had you confused with someone on the What do you look like thread - someone with really long hair. Anyway, just saw your Bid Day pictures. No idea which one is you but it's a really cute group. :)

By the way---if you want to see what I look like (it's pretty scary!) so you can help me figure out what to do w/my hair, look at this website:

About Me

My hair's a lot longer now than in those pictures, and it's straight. In the pictures at the top of the page, a wave-crimper has been used on my hair.

valkyrie 11-09-2001 12:32 AM

OMG!!! I don't EVER want to hear you complain about how you look again because GIRL you are GORGEOUS!!!

I don't know what to say about your hair now, because it looks awesome in the pictures. In the pictures where your hair isn't crimped, did you style it yourself or did you have it done? It is very pretty and looks really nice that length.

BTW -- I am also an only child and a vegetarian. Rock on, girl!

aggieAXO 11-09-2001 03:04 AM

Oh ZLB you are soo cute and I could see you with shoulder length hair or just below your face.

ZetaLuvBunny 11-09-2001 09:55 AM

lol thanks u guys, but a proffessional did my hair and makeup! Do you know how hard it is for me to crimp or curl my hair on my own? It takes forever! My hair was starting to fall out of the curls in that one pic about as soon as we started shooting. My hair's even more difficult to style now since it's several inches longer. dangit  I wish I had time or the energy to fix myself up more often. It's hard being a girl! :D LOL That's cool Val (the only child & veg thing).
