However, IMO, the writing style is reminiscent of a fairly recent (last 90-120 days) poster (under different log-in names). It's just so difficult to disguise your voice; it's why Hemingway and Faulkner and McMurtry and Conroy and LeHane all sound completely different, even if they use the same lexicon at times.

Vampires and serial killers! Ah, how I loved those books!

I know! If only that's how my high school and university times actually played out- but I've still got a little time to make it happen!:p

Seriously!!

I meant to use the word "interesting" but used tittilating because I found myself checking former Miss America runners up etc, and found one who was a B-Actress & had a one night stand with a former President. I still think it's false, though.

I wish I knew more, or at least that the story had been finished and the "thing" revealed.

That girl knew her stuff, though. Something tells me it wasn't just some bored 19-year-old posting for laughs. The stuff about the skiing, the backstory, she'd have to have put a lot of research into it. Maybe a bored 45-year-old posting for laughs, though.

It's funny, someone was talking about the Barnstable twins on the original thread, and I had no idea who they were so I looked them up. One of them goes by "Cyb" (like Syd) and went to the University of Kentucky. Maybe someone was "inspired"... Or probably I'm just bored and thinking too much about it.

Yeah, but the Barnstables (yea Pi Phi!) both went to the same school. So did the Troxell twins at Bama, who were extremely petite but (gasp!) brunette.

I can't remember details about the threats from 'recruitment' anymore but suddenly they got serious. Since the Prunetacos story came out, I've thought that it might have been him because of the Kappa (key*key) connection and it was scary because he had the means to hurt people and was pretty good at tracking down people as well. Whoever the poster was, though, they had done a major flounce or two so who knows if the story would have been finished.

i envisioned the pink sequined tights as stockings with the sequins running up the seam at the back of the leg. most refined.

oooh, barbies_rush, good sleuthing! prunetacos never crossed my mind, but it certainly is feasible.

I know what you're saying but it definitely isn't the same poster. Although they are similarly nonsensical, there are at least three specific style details that mark a certain writers' work. I'm not going to go into any details, but the "recruitment" poster is not the same person who has been responsible for some other recent threads.

The twin recruitment story was 100% fake. NONE of the bountiful details matched up to anything that occured in real life.

It only let me vote once overall. I could vote for multiple options though, but I just put the who cares one.

Ah, indeed, I see. Thanks for picking up what I was trying to say, and thanks for your insight.

Now if we could get another Chuck Norris or Barbie's_Rush to post... I'm just sayin' :p

CluelessIllini 07-05-2010 10:08 PM

i saw a lot of clues that made me feel as if the story was truly just a story-aka fake, rather than a retelling of past events. i'm not trying to be mean here, just stating what i saw and was confused about...

-she could easily explain that she had a twin at another school during rush
-she didnt think about the fact that her twins letters would ruin rush for her, but rather than destroying her rep until a bit later
-highly unlikely that the twins would be co-valedictorians, and if so, why so many spelling and grammatical errors?
-a little new to greek rules, but why would her sister's acceptance into one sorority blackball her from others?
-i thought i read somewhere that infractions included hugging pnm
-she constantly uses pmn instead of pnm
-she claims to be really busy with work, or was that just her sister, can't remember, but why does she continue to read the posts of others and fight back when she claims to dismiss "mean people"

i can't remember everything right now, bad memory... :P, but these are most of the main things i saw

I think her "thing" was that she had a third eye that she covered with bangs. Long bangs. Long blonde bangs.

I tend to think when people start to say "honestly" that it is a lie. We all know what identical twins are so why did the author go to such a point to state how they look exactly like, that is what identical is! I don't understand the need to state every part of her life. My father is a CEO at CW but I am not talking about his business degree from Stanford or my mother who was in playboy. There are lots of people who come from successful families and only those who aren't from it go around telling everyone. I mean you don't live in a 6,000 sf California home and be a pool boy you most likely have a college degree so you can't brag to my neighbors how my dad is blah blah blah. I yawn at the extense to show the "all American image", lots of people live a lifestyle of being athetlic and blonde and semi wealthy. Anyways way to much side story. I don't care to hear about her princess life but the opinion of the sororities she visited and her daily rush events.

1. Um, you did talk about your dad's business degree from Stanford and your mother who was in Playboy (ick!).

2. Huh??

calilicious 07-05-2010 11:02 PM

I want a summary of her story, I don't have 4 hours to read a book. It is so someone pitching their new sorority line novel series. I don't care to read about her friends and their bids either just hers!!! The twist and turns and situations just make it so CW teen drama. The parts like se wasn't given a bid because they had to take so many legacies, well I think a chapter would be in a bad state if they were so run by image and alumna donations that they made sure to take a legacy. Who says that every legacy fits her mom's image? This isn't ANTM and only 1 can be picked, if they like you and want you i'm sure there is never a number limit.

calilicious 07-05-2010 11:09 PM

Wow, you either are really dense or like to be antagonistic. I did typo athletic and it might be anyway but nobody says anyway everybody goes anyways just like you say lol. My point, no need to state how special her family is, I stated my father's career bc I am not impressed by her specialness. I also pointed out there isn't a reason to brag because when you live in a gated subdivision with 6,000 sq ft houses your neighbors obviously are just as successful and my post makes that clear. To should also be too. Blonde is feminine french and that is how I have always spelled it not the American way without the e. If you read any magazine it has the E.
