I want it too and I don't usually even wear purple! This thread is not good for my bank account.

I like the black one with the white band a lot. The others IMO are either too bare on top or too short (or both).

Kappamd 06-11-2010 11:42 AM

x2 for the one with the white band. The fourth one down is waaaaay too short.

FSUZeta 06-11-2010 02:13 PM

lizzybee, love the purple one shoulder dress.

aerylle, keep on looking.

Agreed with the white band. The pink/black one is modest enough and appropriate for most schools' pref, but I just think the white band one is cuter.

This is really pathetic, but I can't figure out how to cut the picture out of the brochure and paste it here, help?

I'll just describe:
There are 4 different dresses shown for pref night, the suggestion says "Suggestions: Dress or formal dinner attire, sandals
or dress shoes."

The first dress is a babydoll dress, with a TACKY design and black bust. Eww.

One is a dark teal shift dress with some sort of odd black design on it.

The next one looks like a dressy sundress, but it may be a printed homecoming-ish dress I'm not really sure. It has the old bright pastel flower-looking things on it.

The last dress is navy blue with cream flowers near the neck (spaghetti strap) and near the lower hem.

Aerylle- black with white band out of those five, but I'm not partial to any of them really.

LizzieBee- I wish I could help, but I don't know how to do it.

I go to a school that is no frills and most people buy cute dresses from forever 21 to wear to pref night.

I love the black one with white band. My second choice is the black/pink one. I think you could wear either again.

Are these from the juniors dept? If so, try to search in the misses department. The dresses there will have more appropriate hemlines and fabrics. I noted a lot of "spandex" in those dresses, and my personal opinion would be to stay away from that. Again, you want to aim for classy.

The style of the white sash is the best of the lot, however the fabric looks like it could appear "cheap" in person. As someone has already stated- just invest in a nice, classy, mature LBD. You will have many, many opportunities to wear it again.

Good for you starting your search early!

LizzieBee if you can link the brochure or PM me or something I can probably cut/paste for you. I have a Firefox addon that lets me do it. Otherwise use your Print Screen button to take a screenshot, then paste it into Paint and crop out anything you don't want to post.

The cutest dresses are by French Connection at Dillards, look at those dresses.

Too formal/Not formal enough?

I found them under the cocktail dress section so..

FWIW, I've yet to see the woman who looks her best in an empire waist, even though they're oh, so in style. I wasn't very impressed with any of those dresses. If you're sticking with Dillard's, how about these (that's a question for everyone, not just Aryelle):

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...923&R=03319962

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...923&R=03315547

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...923&R=03301402

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...930&R=03251827

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...930&R=03274417

http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/s...008&R=03284638

A lot of these come in other colors, too. Think classic lines, and not necessarily black. What color looks best on you? If you look best in pastels or neutrals or jewel tones - lean towards towards them. They're not looking for a clone, they're looking for someone who will fit in AND knows fashion when it comes to her own coloring and body!

Posted all four rounds to give you a bigger picture (ha get it)

Based on the pref pic I think a lot of the dresses posted here are too formal. But I'm not the best person when it comes to dresses.
