They do both have that "look." And I can understand how the mistake is made if you're not familiar with different breeds of dog. No biggie to me. :-)
Ok, so I have to tell this story, I'll try to be quick. We lost Sadie when I was pregnant with my son (my second). She ate a mole who had eaten mole poison in one of the neighbors yards. Very tragic, she was young and my husbands baby. The following spring, my hub and I decided we were ready for a second dog again. So we started looking around for german shepherds, but looking at shelters. I found a shepherd girl and a shepherd-husky mix girl at the pound in my hometown in northern Ohio (4 hours away from where I live now). Then the dog warden tells me that they are filled to capacity, they are currently euthanizing dogs that dont get adopted within 3 days, and the shepherd-husky mix is very pregnant, and the GS girl is possibly pregnant, because she's in heat and was in it when they caught her. So... knowing that we are NOT capable of adopting a pregnant dog, I started making phone calls because I had to rescue these girls. I found an office manager at a vets office that also does work for the SW Ohio Canine Search and Rescue team. She agreed to take both females on as rescue cases. We go up to my hometown, and holy crap the mix gave birth the day before! Five tiny beautiful puppies. THEN my husband sees Apollo. He was an adorable dog, a heart breaking story of being abandoned at a foreclosed house. So my husband wanted him. The drive back to Cinci is unforgetable. A mama dog and her newborns in a big kennel in the back of my Trailblazer. The in-heat shepherd tethered next to her (had to cover the kennel with a blanket to keep moma calm). Apollo went into the front seat with my hub who was driving, and I managed to wedge my butt between 2 carseats in the backseat. 8 dogs, a 4 months old baby, a 2 year old toddler, and 2 cranky adults. Happy endings though. Apollo still has a loving home, the shepherd girl was fixed right away, and was adopted by another S&R family and has since been trained as a rescue dog. The moma and all 5 of her pups all were adopted by families on the condition that if they ever had to give the dog(s) up, they would either come back to me, or the office manager. |

My dog BROOKLYN!!! He's a shitzu. He was 10 weeks in this pick and about 6 pounds. He's now 10 pounds and 5 months. He's chillin' on my brother's bed. |

There's a feral cat colony in my mother's neighborhood, and when she found one unconscious at her door, she started feeding them. That was 2-3 years ago. Here are the requested kitteh pictures:
This is Kaboodle (his twin, Kit, died). He's very territorial, so now the cats have to be fed from separate dishes! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/Kaboodle.jpg This is Lilac, a lilac point Siamese with a temper. We were able to get her neutered, and after resting in the house for a week, she decided to stay there - but wanted none of our business! Sadly, she decided to go outside last April and was killed that night by raccoons: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ilacPosing.jpg This is Callie, one of Lilac's kittens. She's still around, and has a little "thing" going with my dog. It's a bad picture, because Callie is the most beautiful calico cat I've ever seen. She weighs about 4 pounds - tiny! - and I really wish I could figure how to get her to my neighborhood so my dog doesn't pine for her. :rolleyes: She's been neutered, too. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ure2008004.jpg This is Travis, Lilac's other kitten. He's neutered, and has been adopted by friends of my brother. I should mention, each of these cats are at least a quarter Siamese, and have a problem with their jaw. Travis' new owners had all of his teeth pulled, but the others seem to manage: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ure2008023.jpg This is Luke, my absolute favorite. Luke was originally Lucy, until he bathed in front of us! He was our first Trap -Neuter-Release kitten, and because he had pink eye, we had to isolate him in the garage. When he heard the door open, he would start purring! Even when I put drops in his eyes, and gave him medication, he'd purr, but put a little pink tip of his tongue out to show that he wasn't entirely happy. Luke is definite proof that the Stockholm Syndrome works! He was adopted by a woman who had 5 other cats, and within a week, Luke was sleeping in bed with his new mama! He's from the same litter as Kit and Kaboodle: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...Cats/Luke1.jpg Another picture of Luke, looking pensive: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...Cats/Luke3.jpg I'll put pictures of my puppy another time - he was Mr. December on a 2007 Bichon Frise calendar! 33girl can attest to his cuteness, as he was at my mother's viewing & funeral. As you can tell, we love animals, and belong to THE Bichon Frise Rescue group. Here is a segment about it - none of these dogs are mine! |
Awww. I remember you posting about finding her and the kittens (or finding her pregnant...I can't recall which!)

And we're all allergic to cats! |

It's funny because I'm allergic too. |

The doggums
So here are my troublemakers:
The one in white is the Willow Dog. We adopted him from a breeder as a puppy and spoiled him to the point that he is absolutely worthless. He's the Alpha and knows it. The dog can chew through anything and has actually given himself multiple small bowel obstructions from swallowing rawhide, stuffing from our couch, bedspreads, and any stuffed toy we've given him. The one in blue is the Rascal Dog. We rescued him at a year old from a divorcee who didn't have time to spend with him. He is a little skittish and acts like an abused dog, but has warmed up to us after 8 years. He's actually the "good" dog. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...a/IMG_1859.jpg These are jackets my husband bought for them in Tokyo that were way too small for them that we could barely get their arms through the holes! I think they are going to be happy to get out of the mid atlantic region. They didn't care much for the snow. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...a/IMG_1953.jpg |
@IrishLake
beautiful story!! Very dramatic lol. "Keep him until the heat dies down." I've always wanted a GSD. as soon I can, I plan to. |

For reasons I'd rather not go into, I don't like to post pictures of my dog. He's a Bichon Frise, and was my mother's therapy dog. I love this picture of Buffy wearing his Doggles - On The Road Again!

My dog is snoring up a storm right now! Yes, that's the real "Lucy." I'll post pictures when I'm back on my computer cause I'm borrowing my sister's right now.
